Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | With Klingberg in the Mix Who Are Our 7D After the Deadline?

You could argue he has been in the past. Sure as f*** isn't this year, though.

I'm hoping that this isn't McDavid's "new normal". He's still a top 10 player, but it's so far removed from his peak that I'm scared his regression has started 3 years earlier than I would have anticipated.

Part of me thinks that his performance this year is due to a lack of motivation, and he'll turn it back on in the playoffs, because he goes huge swathes of time in which he seems completely disinterested, lacks intensity and seems to not put in any second effort.

I dunno, man but I wouldn't want to be paying THIS version of McDavid 20 million dollars a year two seasons from now. The McDavid of 2 to 3 years ago would have been underpaid at 20 million dollars for sake of comparison.
McDavid's value goes well beyond on ice impact, much moreso than Draisaitl tbh and his salary is likely to reflect that. I can't see him being greedy enough to push for $20m but he's going to get way more than Drai's $14m year, I'd be shocked if he didn't get at least $16m and more likely 17+.

Now Jimmi, we both knew it was never going to get that far, but thanks for making me laugh on a Friday afternoon. …Too funny :)
You're welcome lol. Like I do like what Stan has done, sincerely, he has more work to do, but that's fine that's the nature of "putting a team together" but I will still maintain they should have hired someone else.

Winnipeg owner has as much money as ours
Way, way more. But it’s revenue generated by the team.

Ladies and gentleman a public service announcement. Call and/or hug your parents if you can. My Dad has just passed away unexpectedly with more I wish I could have said or done to show my love.
So so so sorry to hear that. Look after yourself and your family

Are we allowed to laugh at the all the "insiders" who said it was a slam dunk Saad was going to be an oiler today?
No we should be more concerned with our depth scoring that we do have. As in Henrique, Arv, Pod, Brown, Kap not producing enough and costing us the other way. McD is also costing us the other way.

Just in a pickle, Arv, Rico especially. Skinner looks like he's starting to get it and turn the corner, maybe but still encouraging.

We should be scoring 4 goals on average per game but not if Drai is the only one doing the scoring in the grand scheme of things.

Just saw the cap agreement over the next 3 years. That is f***ing wild. This is actually so good for the Oilers to close out the McDrai era for the next 8 years. Best thing is players want to be here and the Oilers can afford them.

If it's accurate then the onus is on management to make the right decisions, not waste that cap on useless contracts with no real return on investment. It is good for almost every team with a big cap rise, draft well, spend your money well. We have a history of not doing that.

We are going to see a lot of good players become available when the cap increases to 110M and teams with internal cap are selling or unwilling to extend.

And the Oilers will be there to reap the rewards.

Can you imagine Colorado also trades Makar next season? lol

The numbers are accurate its been agreed upon, these are not projections.

With that said a rise this big favours rich owners who don't mind spending. This doesn't benefit every team and not all teams will spend to the cap.

And this should be us with McD and Drai and all the firepower we supposedly have. Not enough supplementary scoring. Nuge and Hyms all good, others not so much.

After all the players named above what is every players current scoring pace? Just not ideal...

They're scoring enough for what the team as a whole provides defensively. Sure, it would be nice to get a bit more out of some guys, but the team is playing an elite 2-way game and getting enough support scoring even before getting Kane back and TDL acquisitions.

Oilers should offer sheet Holloway in 2027

So with this crazy cap increase you'd have to think they Oilers might be more interested in trading prospects for top 6 winger or top 4 D with term. Wonder what might be available on some internal cap teams.

Gotta think Savoie+1st gets you a pretty good player in return.

Katz doesn't mind spending but the cap is in US dollars and our revenue even though high for a CAN team at the cusp, we are at a disadvantage. We will see what happens.

The Oilers are only part of Katz revenue with the ice district. Their success drives the success of his other business investments and he will have no issue spending to the cap.
