Getting Gibson could also save this team from doing something stupid and giving Skinner a dumb aav on his next contract.
If we do nothing in net, that's virtually guaranteed to happen. Skinner's agent can just bring up the playoff wins stat and blame the team for the mediocre stats. Even if it comes off as lame, management will just cave because we have no options and no other goalies to compare him to.

It sure doesn't help my image of management and their abilities. We're at the most important juncture in modern franchise history and the best Bowman has been able to do is 1) Give away Holloway/Broberg 2) Make some depth forward adds that largely haven't done much.

We need to make big, substantial moves to address the team's weaknesses now. Colorado can figure out how to do it, why can't we?
Yeah they’re a top 5 team in the league, absolutely terrible. Fire everyone.

Bob Stauffer says Klingberg will most likely play next week against Detroit.

Honestly I’m so sick of how much boob complains about McDavid being protected by the league on Oilers Now. Like dude enough we get.

He’s said McDavid is 197th in penalty’s drawn per 60 almost 20 times. I get headaches now

If Anaheim is will to retain half on Gibson, I dont see a reason to wait until the deadline.

In theory you could move J. Skinners salary out to a contender and then bring in Gibson at 50%. You have to think the writing is on the wall for Skinner anyways.

Lol yeah not like Bobrovsky didn't play outcome of his minds. And you just proved every one point what a true #1 Goalie does. Keeps the puck out of the fking net
Expected goals for game 1 was something like 7.5 to 1.5. Guaranteed that Bobrovsky was in the teams head for game 2 and the first part of game 3. I doubt Skinner is ever in the other teams head before a game.

That's what the deadline is for.

Making panic trades in January is rarely a good thing.
Wouldn’t be a panic trade since we’re already a top team with Skinner/Pickard. We just need that 1B that can take over when Skinner starts slipping. Also would be good insurance with Pickard as the third string goalie if anyone gets injured.

lol, hilarious that he was trying to defend Skinner by pointing out how good Bob was. Brilliant response
we scored 2 goals in those 3 games because their Vezina winning, Conn Smythe runner up goaltender was elite... must be nice.
ahh yes, absolve the 2 best and most offensive players in the world of blame cause "scoring was too hard!"

brilliant

weird...Vegas managed to score goals against him 2023, didn't make up excuses

He’s due for a Nurse type contract. The defacto no1 Dman who played way more minutes and put up more points than he should, playing with elites. He played the minutes because there was no one else. VS. The defacto starting goalie who plays way more than he should because it’s all we have. And he can prop up empty stats like wins/losses and GAA, which are team stats because he plays on a juggernaut.

It’s my biggest fear.

Yeah this false dichotomy that it's $10M or Skinner is just that, false. The Avs just extended Blackwood for half that FFS. .

Half that? So.. Jack Campbell money? We did sign Jack Campbell to tandem with Skinner. Maybe he is available

I do agree that the pro scouting has been abysmal, and.. Dustin Schwartz factor

No you see every single problem on the Oilers was Skinner. Even when he wasn’t playing and before he was even drafted it was only Skinner. If the Oilers lose today it’ll be Skinners fault.
Honestly, change the word skinner for the word goaltending. And you aren’t really that far off. Goaltending has been a big issue for this team for years.

Bettman suggested that the revenues will be around $6.7M this year. Bump that up by say 4% next year and you have revenue at $7B. At that number player's share of revenue is probably $100M per team. Under normal times this would mean a cap ceiling of about $110-112M next year. At $97M the players probably still get escrow back.

In the end there is not really much risk for the League as the 50/50 share protects them. The players main risk would be escrow but that is pretty much gone even at $97M.

Speculation is that they will actually set the cap for two or more years. This is a clear sign that they recognize that something needs to be done to have an orderly return to normalcy. If I had to guess I'd say we will see $97M or so next year, $105M for the following year and if they go three years forward $110M+ for 27-28.
I sincerely hope you're right

Florida was decimated by injuries during the finals and I think I read somewhere that Bobrovsky was dead tired from the travel schedule between Vegas and Florida with the short break between games. The NHL scheduling last years finals with 2 day breaks between games was an advantage for Bobrovsky.

You must remind me, what records did Skinner set in the playoffs?

Because our offense set records. Surely skinner did too right?

why does Skinner have to set records?
also, a "record setting" offense should manage to score more than 2 goals in 3 games in Florida, I don't care how good Bob was

listen, if you want an upgrade on Skinner that's fine but it's certainly no guarantee he would make a difference and is a risky as just keeping Skinner as the starter
