I’d love to see McDavid cold shoulder the league on events but I don’t think it’ll happen. This year and next are some of the best chances he’s gonna have to win a cup and make no mistake if the league wants to make it much harder for him to do that they absolutely can.

I think McDavid plays ball and I think the Oilers bring the cup home to Canada this year for the first time in 30+ years.

And I’m tired of pretending like it’s all just chance and leagues don’t have preferred outcomes. Chiefs are about to 3 peat and Dodgers are going back to back, this is the age of money making outcomes and the leagues aren’t worried about optics anymore because fans are addicts.

Hockey has lost a bunch of cultural significance in the last 25 years. Was watching the OG Law and Order episodes starting in '90, was surprised at how many hockey references there were.

Culture has shifted to Basketball. Football will always be king in America, but the NBA has established itself as the far and away number two. Was reading that a player in the NBA will be eligible for a 80M AAV contract in ~4 years. At that point one player in the NBA will make the salary floor of a whole NHL roster of 22/23 players.
