Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | Where's The Beef?

About as fine as Messier did. lol. Nah, I was OK with it. Its not really comparable though. We got Linseman in prime. This would be old chewed up Marchand.

Also the point that Marchand is on a whole other level of pond scum than Linseman was.

You are just plainly wrong about this though. He still has a positive impact and would be a valuable player. Again, this isn't happening, as I doubt he ever leaves Boston. But the player is still good, yes, not nearly what he was 3-4 years ago, but still a good player.

I think I read that Holloway said he wanted to stay. But he was offered probably $2M more in total to leave Edmonton, plus a much better chance to play top line minutes. He would have been a fool to stay in Edmonton, even if he loved playing here.

Yeah, Holloway would not be getting the minutes in Edmonton that he is getting in St. Louis. Not only is he making more right now, he is going to make more on his next contract, because his counting stats are higher on the Blues than they would have been here. Holloway made the smart choice for his own career, as he should have.

Both wanted to leave and Holloway walked away from us for much less than what Broberg did. I dont see how one could say Holloway wanted to stay here more. Plus Broberg was clearly the one who was dinked around more, and he even approached the Oilers about the offer sheets before he signed them
Neither were dinked around.

They didn’t show much until last season.

Yep. I was wrong. He made the right call. Happy for him.

Broberg looks like shit whenever I watch him though. Happy we didn’t fork out his raise because I think we would be looking for a top 4 D come playoff time anyways.

I mean, Podkolzin and Kapanen are getting those minutes here. He probably would be getting them here, too.

I thought we did wait to add Kane to ltir?

I'm like 90% sure before capgeek went dark they said we didn't put him on ltir for this exact purpose.

But maybe I'm out to lunch.
It appears we placed him on LTIR on Oct 8 2024.

Gazzola just said hockey ops told him last week that, if Kane is out until after the deadline, they are going to be a lot more aggressive and busy quickly.

Well it may be headed in that direction
I wouldn’t take anything Gazzola says seriously. He doesn’t have the contacts he used to. His contacts are with the marketing guys.

So they did it wrong? 5.1 is not enough.
Puckpedia doesn’t have the dates correct. Kane was placed on LTIR after the season start date.

We did. If you google it- all the major blogs reported it. Even Oilers tweet says Oct 8.

So, did the f*** this up by waiting to add Kane to LTIR? I thought they would be able to use Kane's LTIR and the accrued cap space, but they can't.
I think Puckpedia is wrong. It was widely reported that Kane went on LTIR after the start of the season. Remember when they had Savoie up and waited to sign Dermot in order not to put Kane on LTIR?

Which was the exact start of the regular season.
Exactly. Rosters are due the day before. Oilers did wait. I think Puckpedia is incorrect

Yeah, I thought I was losing my mind, lol.

You could almost 100% trust that capfriendly was right. It is less so now with the other sites unfortunately, so it won't surprise me that puckpedia is wrong here.

lol- me too

Oilers hired one of the co-founders of Capfriendly (Dominik Zrim) a month before the season started. I doubt they f’d this up.

So, assuming Puckpedia is wrong, would that put the Oilers budget for the TDL at just over $9M? If so, they could bring in not one but two super stars.

I think it’s between 7-9 depending on who goes down.

With salary retention- you can maybe add even 3.

It really does seem like they're wrong here, I don't even know if they needed LTIR to start the year, right? Like Kane went on and off depending on the roster situation.

Isn't Colorado like 8-1 since acquiring Blackwood for basically free as well. All the goalie guys like Kevin Woodley loved Blackwood's game and said he would be a great buy low candidate and would shine on a good team. Add that to giving away Holloway and Broberg, this team keeps shooting itself in the foot with its pro scouting.
Who needs a 920% goaltender anyways? You know, one that is pretty consistent ALL year (coming from a SH*THOLE team) and doesn't SH*T the bed for over a month and then has to claw back to respectability lol.

We don't. Stu took us to game 7 of the finals remember. Stan must have read these boards when a bunch were arguing about how Blackwood wasn't worth acquiring lol
