The only RHD on the list is Ristolainen.
Such a crappy market this year.
Hopefully they’re targeting a Dmen with term that no one is expecting to be traded.

First of all Makar is a generational player who can actually play defence and won a cup. The rest will probably never win a cup , doesn’t matter if you can rack up the points if you can’t play defence, give up the puck constantly, and are soft as butter. He’s a Mike green , we need a John Carlson.
Oh boy. It’s not bouch’s problem our scouting department is crap and management giving out idiotic contracts. They had a chance to grab askarov, or even draft Walsted instead of bourgault but no because they didn’t want hurt skinners feelings. Always blind to see what the team actually needs because of friendships. Give me 2 ekholms for the price of one Bouchard any day

There is an awful lot of inflation to work into that formula bub. 2 million deferred from year one until 12 years down the road is worth a whole lot less.Gee whiz... $1 today is worth more than $1 tomorrow? Wow!
But we aren't talking about 1 vs 1. We're talking about 112 vs 128, and ALL of the dollars are in the future. So you discount them each back to today.
Any financial advisor worth their salt would see that both the total AND the net present value are greater for the deferred option... he would be foolish to choose option 1.

No you’re too nice.As we have learned, Oilers don’t like to have the best player put forward as much as they prefer the most liked player put forward. Pickard won’t be replaced this year- he is too nice
I hope.Hopefully they’re targeting a Dmen with term that no one is expecting to be traded.
Coffey would be ALL over that. And for good reason.Erik Karlsson is still kind of an interesting thought at 50%.
You'd have to have a loooong talk with Knoblaugh and Coffey to see if they think they can get him to play in the system. Coffey probably says "yes please".
Karlsson would be a poor fit for this roster, not to mention too expensive even at 50% retained. Pittsburgh(under smartest man in the room Dubas) would also probably want an extreme premium for a 50% retention for 2 and a half years on a 10 million dollar contract.Erik Karlsson is still kind of an interesting thought at 50%.

He'd be the perfect fit. That is, if you are of the school that we need a Puck Moving Offensive Defenceman. Which sounds exactly like what the Oilers are rumored to be looking for with the most solid leak coming from Bob that we are looking at Matheson.Karlsson would be a poor fit for this roster, not to mention too expensive even at 50% retained. We don't really know what the Oilers are looking at, rumors have had a hodgepodge of many different type of defensemen on the Oiler's radar. I suspect they're just checking in on anyone and everyone that might be available to see what shakes loose, which doesn't translate well into rumors. He'd be the perfect fit. On the price front it's tough. 5.5M. We'd have 3.5Mish from Cap Accrual, so need to temporarily get rid of 2M sending back or in another trade. But then Kane to LTIR gets us another $4M. So it's not impossible.
You are right about Dubas though, but if you've noticed lately, the cost of cap space has been much lower than in years past, we are no longer operating in the "dead cap" era. And then you also consider that Dubas was able to essentially unload THREE cap dumps to get Karlsson in the first place, he already is laughing from a cap perspective just getting the initial Karlsson trade done. Might be time to cash those cap-dumps-turned-Karlsson into Picks and Prospects to help his retool.
I get that. But there’s rumors reported from around the nhl that oilers have checked in on someone, Then there’s the Bob’s boners category of rumor. Last year it was Lindholm name dropped, with the eventual acquisition of a Center in Henrique. There was also Bob dropping nuggets like maybe we spend the 1st and get 2 players in one swipe (Carrick + Henrique). This year it’s LHD that can play the right side with an eventual name drop of Matheson. So I put that as a higher likelihood and a better read of what the Oil want than say Pagnotta saying the Oilers have checked in on this or that guy.We don't really know what the Oilers are looking at, rumors have had a hodgepodge of many different type of defensemen on the Oiler's radar. As for Karlsson being a poor fit, I'd say he'd be a poor fit even if they are looking for a puck moving defenseman. This isn't the Oilers of the last few years where they're always going on offense, they're clearly dedicated to playing a tight defensive game. They already have to manage the chaos of Nurse/Bouchard, adding in the one dimensional and historically defensively indifferent(at best) Karlsson has a high chance of being a very bad move for the team, a potential liability when the stakes are down.
Oilers are already a very good team with aspirations of winning the cup. They need the right fit, not a high profile addition that has a solid chance of being a very poor fit for the roster and defensive systems.
Karlsson's game is tailor-made to super power this Oilers offence. He will help immensely. This is a guy who pretty much QB'd an AHL squad on way to a 100 point season in San Jose. The one thing I will say about Karlsson is so much of our offense is basically this:
1.) McDavid and/or other Oilers enter the zone, the D is pushed back on their heels, forwards cycle/pass back to the point.
2.) D receives pass and takes a shot.
Karlsson could kill it here with all the looks he would get. You could really make teams pay for backing off McDavid and then it puts them in a dilemma of having to play him straight up but in that case he can now blow by guys or draw penalties.

He will help with our break out. He will send McDavid and friends on breakways and odd man rushes helping our rush game.
He will receive the puck at the blue line, but it's not all about his shot. He's a great QB of 5v5 offence in-zone. Whether it be shooting or finding passing options. He also wheels around the zone exactly like how we like to play offence with our D-men activating and being part of the cycle. Check out clips below. Imagine if that pass he makes to Crosby goes to Draisaitl for his one timer instead.
Good news is if we get to the cup final there is no HUGE threat over there...The fact that the Eastern Conference is such a pathetic joke could cost us some acquisition opportunities, which sucks.
Other than the Sabres (who are still only 6 points out), every other team is still alive and likely still will be by the deadline other than maybe 1 or 2 more that fall back. Adding to this, pretty much all of these teams are under heavy pressure for various reasons to make the playoffs, so they will be less likely to offload assets even if the odds don't look great.
The whole Conference is pathetic, there are maaaaybe 3 teams that could conceivably win the Cup. Meanwhile in the West you could argue that as many as 7 teams could do it. Could even be 8 if you're deluded enough to consider the Nucks a possible contender (laughably, many still do).
Why do you always attack the person Jimmy? Why do you tell everyone it's their problem? Why is this your go to line over and over?I mean Makar is great, but the rest of your post is idiotic lolz. Not appreciating players because you can't is your problem not the player's.
.....Oh so you don't understand hockey, fair enough, sorry for that confusion.
Karlsson isn't good enough defensively, most likely wouldn't be cool with not playing the PP. It would get him out of his groove. Also he seems to be very hot and cold based on the situation he's in and I don't think we can take the risk of him being cold. If we didn't have Bouchard he would be a great fit!Karlsson's game is tailor-made to super power this Oilers offence. He will help immensely. The discount rate is 5.5% or so which is much higher than the current inflation rate. There is an awful lot of inflation to work into that formula bub. 2 million deferred from year one until 12 years down the road is worth a whole lot less.
We've been over this, your opinion on the player is utterly irrelevant. Why do you always attack the person Jimmy? Why do you tell everyone it's their problem? Why is this your go to line over and over?
He actually made a pretty good point. Yes "Bouchard" is a similar mold to Mike Green. I don't see the issue in saying that.
.....
His (lack of) reaction after watching Skinner get run over and him leaking one breakaway after another shows us that there isn't much more to him. Also, 0 goals on PP this season.Bouchard is alot more than just a bomb shot.
Yup. Trade him so he can go be elite elsewhere, I guess.
