Zadorov needs some pay back for the Nucks series. Couple of punches to Z’s face tonight and I’m happy with Browns performance lol.
I like the way you think. Zadorov is the Hal Gill of Andy Suttons and an even more cringy version of Nikita Kucherov. I would approve of this move if Brown indeed pummels "Big Z" (oh brother).

Blackwood, a guy a lot of people sh** on here, moves into the top 5 in most metrics (Min 20 GP).

He was about 15th on SJ. Middle of the pack on a terrible team, but had good stats.

Now moves up to about #5 in a lot of those same stats on a much better team.

Who wuda thunk huh?

Stu has been better the last 1-2 months. He has moved up from 29/30 (30 being last) up to 24th in most
Yeah they gave up a 2nd and young roster player who’s got 6 points in 11 games since that deal. And then they signed him to big money long term immediately. I think I’ll wait more than two weeks to declare this a big win lol.

Oh almost forgot, in the process Colorado also gave away a goalie who has a .930 since that time.

Maybe Josh is there to rearrange that rat Marchand's face and take him to the box for 5.
If that happens the next time Josh is on the ice Big Coyle likely pees himself and heads for the dressing room for equipment malfunction,

Of the major playoff contenders (WPG, MIN, COL, DAL, VGK, LAK, VAN & TOR, FLA, BOS, WSH, CAR, NJD), arguably only Carolina is looking for goaltending - then again, you'd assume they keep Koochie/Andersen as a playoff tandem.

Which is to say, unlike the last few years, while there may not be too many buyers this deadline, we could be uniquely poised as the one team who might be willing to pay for a goalie to tandem with Skinner (or at least should be). Vejmelka, Talbot, Varlamov, even Reimer or (if Carolina swings for Gibson) Andersen would be welcome veterans to help out Skinner and be affordable for the cap/assets we have

Maybe we should be looking at Anunen.

I actually hope not. I don't see the point in trading Stecher. He adds nothing to any other team, but he's a solid #7 come playoff time, and he makes nothing.

The thing with him is you know he's going to compete when he gets in.

I have no concern about his game, just his size which is obviously a big concern and enough to push him to #7. Can't be an every day guy in the playoffs, but don't think it would be a problem at all if he had to come in here and there.

The only RHD on the list is Ristolainen.

Such a crappy market this year.

It's always a crappy market for defensemen. Provorov can play the right side too, but Columbus is actually pushing for a playoff spot, they aren't dumping anyone unless they fall out of the race. The answer to the 2nd pair issue might be Kulak. Then we just have to find a solution to 3rd pair LD, because I don't want to be going into the playoffs with either Brown or Stecher on that bottom pair.

True but seems crappier than usual though. Provorov and Matheson are the two guys that have experience on the right side and fit the puck movement mould, so there's that.

Kulak of course is an option for that spot, can't argue with the results. Then you shop for a cheaper 3LHD for the 3rd pair is definitely an option. But not an option that makes our team significantly better.

With $7-8Mish to spend at the TDL assuming Kane's LTIR, I wanna see a big splash to put us over the top.

The fact that the Eastern Conference is such a pathetic joke could cost us some acquisition opportunities, which sucks.

Other than the Sabres (who are still only 6 points out), every other team is still alive and likely still will be by the deadline other than maybe 1 or 2 more that fall back. Adding to this, pretty much all of these teams are under heavy pressure for various reasons to make the playoffs, so they will be less likely to offload assets even if the odds don't look great.

The whole Conference is pathetic, there are maaaaybe 3 teams that could conceivably win the Cup. Meanwhile in the West you could argue that as many as 7 teams could do it. Could even be 8 if you're deluded enough to consider the Nucks a possible contender (laughably, many still do).

Simply put, the Avs were more desperate than us. Georgiev was done done there, whereas Skinner wasn’t here.

Essentially the Avs paid up to get this Blackwood like performance. Whereas the Oilers stood Pat…. And for the most part we are also getting Blackwood like performance by doing nothing at all but waiting for Skinner to recover.

Avs also had the added motivation to get rid of a Seive Goalie high Cap Hit in Georgiev. Something we were dealing with last year in Campbell, but are no longer dealing with now. The most optimal move for Blackwood would have been to dump Campbells ass along with it last year. But alas, Holland either didn’t look into it, or the deal just wasn’t there.
Skinner has bounced back but it seems inevitable that he will slump again, and it's not like he clamps it down in the playoffs. At this point we have the info to know that this is how Skinner is. I'm fine with keeping him but why not cheap options for his backup? Any team with uncertainty in net should be cycling guys in.

As for the Campbell swap that could have happened, sure I agree, but that doesn't help our problem today

Yup. Trade him so he can go be elite elsewhere, I guess.

First of all Makar is a generational player who can actually play defence and won a cup. The rest will probably never win a cup , doesn’t matter if you can rack up the points if you can’t play defence, give up the puck constantly, and are soft as butter. He’s a Mike green , we need a John Carlson.

It’s not bouch’s problem our scouting department is crap and management giving out idiotic contracts. They had a chance to grab askarov, or even draft Walsted instead of bourgault but no because they didn’t want hurt skinners feelings. Always blind to see what the team actually needs because of friendships. Give me 2 ekholms for the price of one Bouchard any day
