And?

We still need an upgrade on a goalie.

Troy Stecher had a near 70% xGF today, yet you'd still like an upgrade on him.
Yes because Troy Stecher is not a top 4 defender. Are you seriously arguing that he's top 4? Come on Tobias.

I'd love an upgrade in goaltending as well but this management won't do one

Not sure what to make of this Arvid Soderblom kid in Chicago, .910 on the year on a really bad Hawks squad, 38 saves tonight on 40 shots, was absolutely hammered by the Habs but held down the fort to win Chicago the game.

How do we feel about Lane Pedersen? Is he relagated to AHL only duties now or is there still a chance he could help an NHL club.

I'd trust him more than Derek Ryan, but I wouldn't want him higher than 6 on my depth chart. Decent offence and defence, but he doesn't do much to impact the game.

Contrast that to Philp, who at least brings some size and good speed. He's noticable from shift to shift.

They're gonna have to add I think like three players at the deadline.

A forward who can score, a no.4 D, and an affordable goalie.

Agreed on a defenceman and a goalie, but I think they're more likely to ship a scoring forward out (Skinner) vs. bring another one in.

Skinner's a very pricy luxury to be saving for a rainy day. Meanwhile, Kapanen's more or less stolen Jeff's role as the skill player that yo-yos up and down the lineup as needed; Kane will be back by the playoffs, and in the AHL you have Savoie starting to put it together, plus even the revival of Perreault career from the brink of busthood. Even without Skinner, they should be fine if a skill player goes down.

To my eye, they need a #3/4(Bjudstad) or #4/5(Carrick) centre depending on how well Philps plays, and a physical depth forward with legit size to back up Kane if needed (Kostin, Max Jones, etc).

RNH-McDavid-Arvidsson
Podkolzin-Drai-Hyman
Janmark-Henrique-Brown
Kane-Philp-Kapanen

PB: Perry, Tyler Motte, Max Jones (tweener physical winger and defensive centre)
Aces: Ryan, Hamblin, Caggiula, Pederson, Savoie, Perreault.

I'd be happy with that as the forward depth chart going into the playoffs.

I really hope the Oilers are able to make a big move.

Last year we acquired Henrique and Carrick and it was kind of underwhelming. It even cost us our 1st round pick.

I could see the Oilers adding Jake Evans for the 3C. He is having a career year and is kind of a Philip Danault light (even though hes put up more points this year). Hes a 28 year old right shot UFA dman and hes from Toronto. He's also only making 1.7M so that's 850k if the habs (or another team) retains half.

On defence, I think Kulak is the guy to play with Nurse. I could see them targeting a veteran guy to compliment Emberson on the left side. I'm not a big fan of the player but I could see a deal for a guy like Jamie Oleksiak from Seattle at 50%. That way you have him for this year and next year at only 2M. Or maybe Detroit sends over Erik Gustafsson with his 2M cap hit.

Instead I think we are all hoping for a big move. I still think this team is an impact player to really push them into contender status. Adding someone like Byram on the back end or Brock Nelson up front would be the homerun that we should be looking for.
I agree that unless we add an Ekholm player to the back end that a Brock Nelson type player would be more of a home run

We have trouble scoring aside from Mcdrai and truthfully our defence isn't that bad....

Go get Brock Nelson and then a cheaper guy to play with Embersson

Oilers need to Target someone like Bowen Byram and a fast skating hard forechecking under 30 player up front.
Jake Evans and Byram. Not bad, Not bad
