So? Maybe Miller is just a super opinionated guy. Nowhere in what I've seen did anyone have a solemn discussion with Miller for the sake of the team. Its more likely people giving Miller advice. Pettersson himself said that the rift between the two isn't much of anything. He really didn't need to say that

The Canucks should hire you for PR.

I love to see them trade off their Pettersson but I just don't see it. Miller has trade control, and they arent winning a trade with him either. There are rumors they are looking for a trade but so are we. Even in that Horvat interview he said that the problem was being "magnified" because of the market they are in. If I'm wrong, I'll eat crow I guess, but this reeks of a media creation

How about anything other than vague statements from news pundits looking for clicks during a slow news cycle?
There have been fairly direct statements from Rutherford, Hughes and Tocchet.

Allvin’s statement was less direct but if you read between the lines the message is the same.

Those statements seem more like them saying that the team's struggles are magnifying problems in the room rather than vice versa. Hughes even pointed to other players beyond those two, as if the rift between Pettersson and Miller was nothing special.

It's possible I haven't read everything out there, granted but I think I have the main ones. Especially that Horvat one. It is in articles showing it as proof of a rift when he says just the opposite

There’s definitely something there. Not all teammates will like each other but this seems like it’s bigger than that.

It didn’t help that Pettersson’s production spiked during the time Miller was away.

My view on the Miller/EP situation.

1) Two former TSN radio guys who have their own youtube channel have been banging on this subject since early December. They just went on and on about it till other media picked it up.
2) Do you guys get along with everyone you work with? Do we always agree with each other on this board all the time? No, of course not. Unless you are self employed and never deal with another human being is the only way you can guarantee no conflict at work.
3) During the Oilers glory year, we now know that they kept closed ranks on any problems between players in the dressing room. Winning allows you to do that

I really hope the Oilers are able to make a big move.

Last year we acquired Henrique and Carrick and it was kind of underwhelming. It even cost us our 1st round pick.

I could see the Oilers adding Jake Evans for the 3C. He is having a career year and is kind of a Philip Danault light (even though hes put up more points this year). Hes a 28 year old right shot UFA dman and hes from Toronto. He's also only making 1.7M so that's 850k if the habs (or another team) retains half.

On defence, I think Kulak is the guy to play with Nurse. I could see them targeting a veteran guy to compliment Emberson on the left side. I'm not a big fan of the player but I could see a deal for a guy like Jamie Oleksiak from Seattle at 50%. That way you have him for this year and next year at only 2M. Or maybe Detroit sends over Erik Gustafsson with his 2M cap hit.

Instead I think we are all hoping for a big move. I still think this team is an impact player to really push them into contender status. Adding someone like Byram on the back end or Brock Nelson up front would be the homerun that we should be looking for.

Me in May Last Year:

"Much has been said about the loss of Pettersson’s smile. But still, no one knows why. Is it possible that psycho JT Miller is too hard on him?"

I'm not even a Nucks fan and I could see the smoke.

Now we got pretty much all of hockey media talking about it, Nucks management, former players, current players. It's a thing.

I have time for Jake Evans, I like the player, but man going after yet another Center after last years Center bonanza, which I agree was kind of underwhelming, seems like a waste of assets.

It's interesting the Nurse-Kulak pair. In that we've seen it work well. It also allows us to shop for a LHD (which is what's on the market for most part) to slot into that 3LHD spot. It would be have to be a good vet though that can cover for a still developing Emberson though as you mentioned.

Oleksiak is interesting, i'd have to look into him.

Gustaffson, funny enough a Wings fan offered him to Oilers on the mains for Future Considerations, and I said I'd take him if only to bury him in the ECHL lol. Cause he was a guy we drafted that didn't want to be here. So f*** Gustaffson, I wouldn't want to give that primadonna a chance at Cup.

With potential $4m-$9m to spend this year, I would hope for a bigger move than these little Holland-like adjustment moves. We are in a great spot going into the TDL this year, we are already a legit contender at this point and adding that much value at the trade value, could really put us over the top. So I'd like to see us not nibble around the edges. An Impact 4RHD that might not be apparently available on the market. An extra scoring winger even. And maybe even a 1B can all be afforded with that kind of pocket cash.

Too bad the Canucks are ass and winning is a foreign concept for that franchise.

Does anyone have info on D Zac Jones of the NYR? HE has pulled a Kakko and gone to the media to complain. 24 years old PMD on .825 a year. Averaging 16 minutes a game when he plays
I've always been a fan.

Good offensive guy, but he also uses his skating really well defensively. Can play both sides.

If he's cheap, I'd take him. He's the right stylistic fit to try beside Nurse and a pretty solid third pairing guy to put with Emberson if that fails.

Man those boots gotta be pretty cement filled after all that time and that age. Leadership that can’t skate is already in place here as romantic an idea as that is.

He took a healing trip to India and says he's ready for another go.

After a litany of health issues forced him to step away from his career, the former Chicago Blackhawks captain underwent a five-week Ayurvedic detox—enduring induced vomiting and daily enemas—in an effort to get his body and mind back on track.

Yeah I saw that. Him wanting to do it and being fast enough for a team that can’t afford to get any slower are two different things though.

Yeah he's not going to miss a year and a half of hockey and be able to step right into the last quarter of a season and playoffs expecting to make an impact.

Even with a full off-season and training camp he'll be iffy for 25-26.
