The thing about it though is Akey has actually played well. They aren’t giving him minutes because they’d rather sink or swim with bigger names that aren’t playing well.

Bonk has been awful this tournament.
Bonk is another guy who's being asked to play a role above his skill level. The PP role is just questionable. I can't understand it for the life of me.

Akey has played a safe game in the very few minutes he's had. And I can even argue that he doesn't have a complimentary LH partner on this roster. So why bring him?

Is the coach and the management of our national junior team on completely different wavelengths?

The thing is even a safe game is better than what a lot of the others are doing.

He hasn’t been given enough minutes to expand upon that.

Akey would have better development if he just stayed with his team playing 20+ minutes a game.

Kinda annoyed they brought him to play him 2 minutes a game.

Friedman said he expects teams to act fast now trade wise in order to boost playoff chances and team chemistry.

Sounds like Canucks are done

I'd buy low retained for Gibson, he was a marquis goalie at one point in his career. Not sure Talbot is an upgrade on Skinner. Goalies are voodoo, at one time I would have emptied the cupboards for Husso so wtf do I know
To make Gibson work, there would have to be a lot of retention, not just to make him fit the cap but mostly to hedge the risk. I'd be stoked for a Skinner-Gibson tandem but I wouldn't be in favor of Gibson-Pickard

The fact is that if Gibson were a UFA, he would be signing for something like 1 year 1.5 million to rebuild his value.

Edit: also FYI I don't think goalies are voodoo. Husso failed because his good rep was based on a small sample. When teams wrote the book on Husso he didn't have the answer. I'd say the same for Dostal being better than Gibson. We don't know if Dostal can handle having his weaknesses figured out. Gibson is not going to be a flash in the pan if we get him. Either he will be mediocre from the get go or he will recapture his form

I am amused how some posters keep wanting to bring back players that more or less got run out of town

Generally the people running players out of town are idiots so it would stand to reason that the players they target have a solid chance of being worth bringing back.

I haven't watched any of the WJC, but are they playing a 1-3-1 with Bonk in the bumper?

That's where London uses him. To the extent that they even sell "Bumper Bonk" tshirts in their shop haha.

They’re playing very uninspired in this game v Chechi, on right now.

Dave Cameron would be Steve Tambellini’s first choice for a coach. Boring hockey.

That's your reasoning? He used to be good 5 years ago? Should we buy low on Marc Edouard Vlasic while we're at it?
So you tell me who is an upgrade on Skinner that we could get. Not that long ago Florida would have given draft picks and retained to get rid of Bob. I'm just saying Gibson may have something left in the tank ofcourse with the Ducks retaining.

Probably no one if we're being honest. Hopefully Vejmelka might be available come deadline, but I wouldn't count on it. I don't see a point in lateral moves or downgrades for the sake of change. 95% of NHL goalies are wildly unpredictable and I'd rather have the one that knows and worked with our system and defense corps than the one that hasn't.

They’re still getting good PDO. Tonight they’re getting outshot and some dude named Sasson (not to be confused with Vidal Sassoon) scores on a slap shot.

Looks like the (not so) magical dwarf puts them up 2-1.

I think Alveen the Chipmunk might do something dumb and drastic

Canucks will do something.

Demko now injured tonight. He's a Band-Aid. There is ltir space now if it comes to it and lankinen can hold the fort

Kyoreos says they should do something soon with Miller or Petey

Man I can't even figure out which clown I want Vancouver to trade away.

Do i want them to keep the sad clown? or the insane clown?

Can't figure out which is worse for them. It's really been weighing on me.

I could see Demko being "done" done soon.

It's funny how Canuck fans have stopped mockingly saying "PDO PDO LOL"

Turns out there was some truth to it after all.

The really funny thing is, they're literally still a top 10 pdo team. 😂
