Carrier carries almost 4 mill in salary. And Nashville already has two retained.
Yeah, that's the biggest barrier. That's why I said it could be determined by cost, as in it depends what either them retaining would cost, or the cost of getting a 3rd party involved. Also might depend on how much we've accrued by then, though I'm skeptical it would be that much at this point.

And Skinner waves his NMC to a clear non playoff team for what reason? He signed here for one reason and one reason only--to finally to be in a playoff game. HE is in his 15th season and has never played in playoff game. He wont waive just to do us a favour
Not eating that it has any chance of happening. But Skinner is in a contract year and his production and ice time to date are cutting into the money he could be seeing in future seasons.

If the Oilers were offering him as offsetting salary to a team lacking a scoring punch like Chicago, Anaheim or Boston, it would make sense if he was likely to see top six icetime and primary PP.

For that reason I'm leaning towards moving him.

Chicago likely interested in moving Murphy for a bit of overpay. Say a 2nd '25, Emberson and Wanner.
Yes I know we would rather move Stecher but if your the GM?

it is not about icetime. It is all about the playoffs. I am willing to bet that he would be willing to be the stick boy to be on a playoff team

They've got plenty of RD. There's no reason to add a roster player.

Trading to improve the second pair while weakening the third pair just doesn't make sense.
Yes it does. Getting a 3rd pair RD at the deadline not so hard and not so expensive.
We NEED to shore up our right side before we go and get the new tender.
Im arguing with a guy that says Moderator....you wouldn't banish me to the elysium fields or anything right?

Wanner holds more value to us then other teams
hurts a bit does it?
Murphy's an assistant there and part of the core there for some time ....they want good value back.

Wanner had a good rookie season on the farm but he has taken a step back this year

Chicago has good pro scouts.

Wanner's value is not high right now. Like I said he has taken a massive step back this.. I have only stream 3 or 4 games this year and he looks a little lost out there on same nights. It looks like the team wants him to work on the physical aspect of the game and that is making his overall play suffer. From what I saw

So he is a piece of muck they can throw at the wall. He is young and did pretty well his first year and if you know he is working on things they will too.

Love ya spin. But the hawks will want a player than can play now and not 3 or 4 years down the line
Thus the inclusion of Emberson.
Chicago has a pretty good quality RD. Vancouver and Nashville especially looking for that position. 3 assets is what they will want.
So if Davidson countered 2nd, Emberson, Philp would you do this? Probably for 2 to three years of Murphy at his peak?

Murphy brings less offence than Ceci and is more on the Cap. If we’re gonna upgrade, make it an upgrade.
Chicago will retain likely 40% for the right assets. We don't need much offense. We need Nurse's partner and someone solid defensively. And someone that can skate. Murphy's problem is his age. Plus he has alot of miles on him.

Ceci was solid enough defensively and could skate decently (although it didn’t look pretty, he got to where he needed to).

I just don’t see Murphy moving the needle. I want an improvement over what we had last year going into the playoffs. Some of that can come from Nurse himself, who’s trending to a better season than last year. Murphy has been a huge minus player on a bad Hawks team admittedly, but there’s no guarantee he learns solid defensive hockey if he comes here. He’ll have to unlearn a lot of trash Hawks hockey.
