You can only be started in the top six and shit the bed for so long before your a bottom 12 player.
Yeah because Nuge, Hyman and Podkolzin have all done so much to be stapled in the top 6 for the past dozen games.

I wasnt aware of that the Oilers were the lowest in the League.Agreed, except that we are paying less for goaltending than pretty much every team in the league. $3.6M for two guys.
Is anyone paying less?
And what are the complainers willing to sacrifice (let’s be realistic… nobody is taking on Nurse) to bolster the position?
I’m for Blackwood, but even that requires cap creativity.
This wasn’t plan A plan A was Jack Campbell with skinner as an up and coming back up.I wasnt aware of that the Oilers were the lowest in the League.
Thats stunning.
How is it that a team that is in their Stanley Cup window builds their team is such a way that goaltending becomes the lowest priority on the team?
They ultimately decide that low rent goaltending is their ticket to a Stanley Cup.
Amazing.

None of them have been playing all that great. I'd add Arvidsson to that list as well.Yeah because Nuge, Hyman and Podkolzin have all done so much to be stapled in the top 6 for the past dozen games.
Hes got more goals than Ardvidson, Nuge, Ryan and others with no PP time and pretty limited minutes. Not sure why everyone is shitting on him.Skinner was signed to play in the top 6. Hard to have any success when your C is Ryan.
Why should Pickard lose his job because Skinner is awful? If we’re bringing in another goalie it’s gotta either be Skinner going the other way or waived and sent to Bakersfield like it was with Campbell last year. If he wasn’t the one who was stinking out the joint nightly there wouldn’t be any need to make changes.Ive said it before, think Blackwood could be a bit of a sleeper in our system. I’d run him 1 and put skinner as 2 until proven otherwise.
You don't have to though right? You have to find someone that can do enough at the price point.Yeah… my point is complain about that which you are paying for… and accept that compromises have been made elsewhere.

something in the waterThis season is just killing my motivation for this team.
Honestly the organization just feels cursed.
Everyone that left looks better and everyone who comes here looks washed. Feels pointless to even make moves.
A new goalie will probably suck. Skinner would somehow probably look better if he was to leave.
Just a bizarre team and organization. It doesn’t make sense to me.

Enough of this, you don't have to willfully ignorant.??? - Getting lucky is not a strategy.
My personal opinion?
It's quite simple. Goaltending is simultaneously not valued and often blamed. Not by management and not by many fans. It's systemic and you can see it in this very thread.
Attitudes like "just shut up and stop the puck" as though the circumstances leading to the goal are irrelevant, and mistakes are tolerated all over the ice, except in the goal crease... where the goalie's only job is to avoid the embarrassment of (and ultimately accountability of) the higher priced talent.
Been polluted for at least a few decades.something in the water
Sorry, but I'm not for any plan that requires me to put any confidence in a career backup as a plan B, either spend the required assets to get a legit #1, or roll with what we haveI used to be a full backer of Stuart Skinner, but I'm really thinking he's not the one for us. Maybe he can turn it around, but we need results NOW. Not in 2-3 years time. But I also don't know if there is any goalies out there that are clear upgrades that are available. Though, I'd be good if San Jose was to do a trade like:
Blackwood
SJ 4th Round Pick 2025 (Makes up for Skinner signed for 2 years)
for
Stuart Skinner
If Blackwood fails, then we got Pickard to rely on. That'd what I would do if I wasn't willing to wait for Skinner any longer.
Shocking!!? Never expected that with a tag team of Skinner-Pickard again, managed by Schwartz at the beginning of the season, it would of been this bad

Yep 2.6 mill and he’s performing like the worst goalie in the league. Not a huge contract but still not acceptable. This is how low the standards are here in Edmonton and what we are use to. Vancouver goes out and gets Kevin Lankinen.
This is what one of their long term posters says yesterday. He has played 13 games
Lankinen for the first time this year was outplayed by his opposite number and has to share blame for the loss.
So to this poster, this is the first time in 13 games he was outplayed lmao
Meanwhile Skinner gets outplayed in probably 12/13 games
HE MAKES 875k for the people who say we should not expect much goaltending from Skinner who makes triple
I agree to an extent, but also... It's not like Pickard has exactly been lights out either.
