I don't disagree at all with what you're saying aside from Skinner underperforming. He is what he is. The playoffs exposed him. The start of this season isn't far off his average. He's a sub-par 900 goaltender. He's by far the weakest link.

Could the Oil use an upgrade at 2nd pairing RHD? Absolutely.

Right now tho, goaltending will lose us the cup.
He is underperforming. He had like a .908 career save pct. up until this season. The .881 will correct itself, just like the team he's a notoriously slow starter but I can't keep going in circles with this Skinner debate because it's exhausting but he's not as bad as you guys think he is. Ok....now I'm done haha

His numbers were 0.897 with a small sample size at 6 games with the Oilers. That was still good.

Now he's looking like the next Ben Bishop
exactly. This is the same song and dance and whining of last year saying we can never win a cup with Skinner.........everyone shup up for a while got to gave 7 and within 2 goals of winning the cup but now everyone is back. Our defence has always been an issue. Do you wonder why when goalies leaeve our organization they are so much better on other teams....going all the way back to Dubnyk but it goes for Stolarz, Talbot, Brossoit, etc, etc.

Who are these pieces?

Well if the rumored price is a 2nd for Petterson, then 2nd for Petterson

2nd + Skinner (?) for Talbot or Blackwood or whoever (might have to be a 3 way deal).

We have three 2nds in the next two drafts.

Imagine if Skinner had this save % last year in the playoffs? I shake my head. Let's have this conversation in January when the oilers defensive system is playing better.

Do you guys understand what happend? We brought in left overs from other teams on defence with Stecher and Dermott. Two defence who were in the bottom 6 on the coyotes.....BOTTOM 2 on the coyotes dman and you wonder why we bleed the chances we do? Bouchard is struggling defensively.

All you need to do was go to the prospect board and also check that we have 2026 and 2027 1sts and 2nds. We essentially have enough to get 2 Ekholms. I don't even know why I bother to respond. Someone on HFOil should know this by now

So you're hoping the team fails? Seem stupid.
What is stupid is that this goes against everything what Jackson and Bowman said they would do when they brought in all these staff to focus on development. What is stupid is being the oldest and one of the slowest teams in the league to continue that trend. Youth is serving every other contender out there and that is the story. At least some youth and speed. Having a 4th line with a 37 year old that gets thrown around and a 40 year old that hopefully makes it to the end of the year sprinkled in with numerous slower older players that renders this team with ZERO forecheck ability and one of the softest teams in the league is what is stupid. If we continue to empt the cupboard and have no ELC contracts in the next couple of years we will have to have the whole 3rd and 4th line as AHL players to stay under the cap with Bouch and McDavid's new contracts.

We don't bleed chances against, open your eyes and go look at every advanced metric. The Oilers are among the best chance supression teams in the NHL.

It's the main reason we a 8-7-1 actually and not like 2-9-1 like last year, because the offense and goaltending haven't done f*** all this year. Our D is keeping the team afloat.

The D isn't the problem and Stetcher and Emberson have been fine. Those guys aren't losing us games.

Detroit's not trading Talbot and I worry about him falling off. Go get a guy like Greaves, Hofer or Bussi to play with Skinner, see if they can get something out of better back up to push him.

Hell, trade Pickard for Ingram (who's had a terrible start to the year) see if they can platoon.

No way you get rid of Skinner unless it is for a guaranteed better tender. Need a guy to push him, give us a 1A & A1 tandem

I mean Jeff Skinner, but f*** Stu anyway, the people riding his nuts will get an eye opener when a better goalie arrives and turns him quickly into a BACK UP. There ain't gonna be this 1A/1B shit, Skinner isn't that good.

Replace Stuart for someone like Blomqvist, we already come out on top

Dustin Schwartz welcomes the opportunity to show you how to make a goalie have a weak glove hand, give up goals on the first shot of the game, and have terrible movement. :)

Really? Did you watch the Vegas game? Do you watch any of the games? Best chance suprression teams in the NHL? In terms of shots maybe but not quality shots. If you are looking strictly at shots than that is your issue. We outshoot teams ALL the time but they are not quality shots,. We make other teams goalis look good by trying to overpass until it just rolls in on them. You didnt address Talbot's save % last playoffs.

I mean the team needs to win now, so building for 3 years from now is stupid.

Again as I said this was the same song and dance last year saying Skinner cannot take us to the cup. I can guarantee you when Skinner is on another team being one of the top goalies in the league it will be these same people that call Bowman and Jackson for getting rid of him.

Yeah, weren't we laughing at Talbot being so bad they had to go to No Save Dave?

50% of our games the team has scored 2 or less times. This team was built to score.
