Unless Kane is being a total d-bag he's more valuable to us than anyone else.
He's not, he's just a player with size that scored in the past. If you move him and his contract, it completely changes the deadline for the better for the Oilers.

I think they announce Kane out until the playoffs minimum tomorrow. I think the league looked into it and said it’s good and that’s why it’s March 1st.

Purely a guess though.
Maybe after they call around and see if there's any takers?

Kane goes to the dirty areas, hits and fights. Tell me how those 3 things aren't needed here? To top it off he can score off of deflections and by overpowering defenders. Once again how is that not needed here?

Posted a new thread, this one is getting long.

@Bryanbryoil could you lock this one up please and thank you?

Again, I get you like tough style guys Bryan, but he's not the only one. They could actually get a few if Kane's LTIR isn't here, because then they get those guys at a cheaper rate on the cap.

Idiot move by JJ to not be prepared for offersheets on your two recent high draft picks that excelled during a Cup run. Every other team leaves a cap buffer in case of an offer sheet and don't go on a drunken spending spree on July 1. What was the buffer left after July 1? Something like 1.8 million to sign both players. Teams looking to offer sheet those guys were licking their lips.
It had to be more than not being prepared. It was sending a message saying "if you sign these offer sheets with our organization you are gone"

Don't kid yourself earlier in the summer agents probably threatened "offer sheets" and management said do it and you are gone

So this is just a rumour and I have no idea how much weight it holds, but the talk now is that the Oilers are not closing the door on a goalie.

It looks like for certain a middle 6 forward will be added and a depth/#5/6 Defensemen.

I was told the Oilers are looking to change the chemistry/character of their group in an impactful way and have internally talked about ROR from Nashville. Who else fits the bill?

What I now believe to be 100 percent true is there will be more significant changes to the team. Pressure is on now and we have the cap space. In other words we aren't just adding Drew O'Connor and a Left handed Stetcher. This should be really good news to us.

It should be an exciting week!!

I see a lot of people projecting our past management groups on Bowman (doing nothing! lazy! just more bottom 6 players!), but if history has any meaning he is a fairly active and aggressive trader.

There's a lot of good and a lot of bad in there, but he's active. I think many are making a mistake of thinking he's just doing nothing because that's what Tambellini, MacT, Chiarelli, etc did.

If anyone else cares the Lightning will be adding a top 6 winger. Sounds like the Hurricanes are holding up the market.

I don’t know how the islanders are moving forward but one scenario I would consider trading Bouchard is if you could build something around

Bouchard, Stu for Dobson and Sorokin

We probably have to add still but it would be a big shake up for both teams. Probably more of an offseason move that being said.

We need Stauffer to drop some hints right now lol. The fans need something to latch on to.
The only hint Medi Chick Filet will give these days is patience on Skinner and that its not his fault.

Didn't you guys notice, in the Tampa game at the intermissions, they called in Roloson to defend Skinners playing and that he's such a good goalie? LOL

They did that to tell fans that "Guys he's a good goalie. You guys are blind!"

You won;t know with the Islanders really until its done. Lou cut the balls off the guy that last let some out of the bag before its time. Everything that you;ve heard up till now is just some media head talking. You can of course guess what is logical like the rest of us. But in your guess above i would say history says Lou is a defense first kind of guy so you might want to chew on that a bit.

Assuming the Oilers are looking for that on the trade market, they're going to get that with younger, cheaper players.

I think the Oilers need $5.25m more than another winger that can't produce in the bottom six.

Interesting stuff. I don't know your posting history - have you posted rumours before? Get any right from sources?

From your post it infers the team knows Kane won't be returning in regular season or at least planning that way. What have you been told about that situation which everything hinges on for this team.

Curious, not being judgey on this.

You are both right. However i think the biggest problem with Kane is he has a history of getting up to speed slowly post injury. 10-12 games to really get going and get the timing refined to playoff level is probably a reasonable time.....its a time we just don;t have. So he mostly becomes a bottom 6 LW. If we go fishing and end up with the right guy coming back playing in the top 6 (say Tuch) then things change a bit and we can change our bottom 6 strategy a bit.
But we may not have that prospect/young NHL guy to entice Buffalo.

Go back to last year and check out my TDL post on Henrique. It was bang on.

And yes, this came from somebody that works for an NHL team. (not the oilers)

I've been told the team is fully expecting to have Kane's cap space available.

ROR would certainly fit the bill. Old, slow , and his best years behind him. Sounds like someone the Oilers would be pining after

Middle six forward isn't going to make a difference in how far we go. We are out in round 1 or 2 (depending on match up) with the goaltending we have. Maaaaaybe have a shot if you get the exact same path (LA to Vancouver to Dallas) because you can dodge any of those teams having a game breaking forward, but that's unlikely and even a team like LA I think is better this year than last. Dallas will probably use their LTIR to load up also.
