That’s not the HFOil way, man.A team that went to game 7 finals won't have their cupboards full. You can't have everything man

We don't even need a Savioe, we should have at least 1 or 2 guys ready to step into a depth role and we don't have that. This is why we keep relying on the absolute trash that takes up space in our bottom six.How many contenders have a player like Savoie waiting in the mix? On top of that we have Sam OReilly, Akey, Beryozkin, Paul Fischer etc all NHL material
This is interesting stuff. I'd like to hear details directly - can you share a link or advise where this interview comes from.Dreger saying Katz runs hot and calls Bowman and Jackson 20 times a day.
You can't say this and in the same breath criticize Holland. The third line this year easily could've been McLeod Holloway Foegele, regardless of how those players were originally acquired. We don't even need a Savioe, we should have at least 1 or 2 guys ready to step into a depth role and we don't have that. The Oilers just need to trade your buddy Stuart for an actual starter and then go from there. Depth role don't do anything. We have a bunch of those. We need another top 6 player to take the baggage off McDrai. I don't mind our defense. When healthy they're good enough. Kulak can slot in the middle pairing with Nurse. We don't even need a Savioe, we should have at least 1 or 2 guys ready to step into a depth role and we don't have that. I'm just saying, at least be consistent lol. Holland left them the option of prioritizing the veterans or the youth. They chose the veterans.
How? We're not drowning in assets, precisely because we're so bad at drafting. Also thanks for trading our first for this year, Kenny. Certainly couldn't use it right now. What team wants Skinner? And you say you don't mind our defense as it's been ventilated very badly over this losing streak. The Oilers just need to trade your buddy Stuart for an actual starter and then go from there. Again, my problem is that the drafting outside the first round has produced nothing for the 20th year in a row. Most teams draft well enough in the first round, but they also manage to find NHL players in the later rounds. Who's the best player we've drafted in outside the first round in the cap era? Marino? You can't say this and in the same breath criticize Holland. The third line this year easily could've been McLeod Holloway Foegele, regardless of how those players were originally acquired.

To be fair, McDavid is playing the worst hockey of his career right now, so I'm not sure he should be calling anyone.
Whole team needs to take responsibility. I think they'll turn it around at the deadline.
Well I guess I'm saying they could've prioritized signing Holloway, and keeping McLeod and Foegele over bringing in Skinner, Arvidsson, and re-signing Henrique. While I don't blame them for not matching the offer-sheets (and actually didn't think they should at the time), they certainly did choose Henrique over McLeod, and Skinner/Arvidsson over Foegele. What they actually prioritized is both. They just got blindsided by the offersheets.
Being unprepared for that is on them of course but management didn't just decide for no reason to become 5 years older at every position.
I definitely am not blaming McDavid for the losing streak, the rest of the team needs to step up. But it's not like he's playing up to his standard either. It's not all McDavid's fault.
Since end of January, he's gotten an on ice save percentage of 0.816, and has a PDO of 0.853.
He also has been on ice for 9.8 xGF and only 8.1 xGA, per Natural Stat Trick.
Man is getting Skinn'ed alive.
I understand that, but the Oilers had enough youth that they should've been fine for a number of years had they kept them. The need for cheap youth is greatly reduced if you keep the three guys I mentioned. I think he did a decent job of widening the window despite the lack of draft success.Again, my problem is that the drafting outside the first round has produced nothing for the 20th year in a row. I'm not sure I agree, wasn't the talk that Skinner and Arvidsson were going to be Draisaitl's wingers this season, and would do more with those minutes offensively than Foegele was able to? And signing both brought them right to the cap, forcing Holloway into taking a low contract? What I'm saying is that Skinner and Arvidsson weren't Foegele's replacement. Holloway was. This context is somewhat immaterial now but important to understanding the decision making processes that took place.
They did opt for Henrique over McLeod but the player they brought in with the McLeod trade actively made the organization younger.
Idiot move by JJ to not be prepared for offersheets on your two recent high draft picks that excelled during a Cup run. Every other team leaves a cap buffer in case of an offer sheet and don't go on a drunken spending spree on July 1. What was the buffer left after July 1? Something like 1.8 million to sign both players. Teams looking to offer sheet those guys were licking their lips. What they actually prioritized is both. They just got blindsided by the offersheets.

This whole LTIR scam is ridiculous to me also.Kane isn't even playing and people still throwing shit at him. I mean of he is healthy to play di you blame the guy about wanting to get in and up to game shape before the playoffs?
I see it now he doesn't play before playoffs, he will obviously be a few steps behind esp for playoff hockey and the pitch forks will be out in full force.
Man this fan base is toxic.
Completely irrelevant.Let's not forget him owning a far right website promoting conspiracy theories
Also I know for a fact players think he’s a great owner to play for.If katz is a bad owner, yet does pretty much everything he can to make the team better, what makes a good owner?
I have Tommy Novak and Noah Cates on my list of potential middle six winger options and I have both above Frederic. Frederic is better suited as your 4C because his offense is shy. What are we thinking is the cost on Trent Frederic? I'm kinda leery on it because he's played his entire career in the US and is a US guy, might be difficult to resign so it would be a pure rental perhaps.
McTony said that's a possibility. I don't buy that but who knows?Maybe the team circumvents the Kane issue, but dealing him over the weekend?

Like sending Savoie down, putting Kane on IR and flipping him somewhere. Columbus maybe? They have all the cap space and need for veteran wingers.
Why not? If they are concerned with out it will affect his situation, and a team is interested in what he might eventually bring, it might actually make sense.McTony said that's a possibility. I don't buy that but who knows?
Ben SimmonsThis whole LTIR scam is ridiculous to me also.
I'm sure teams, especially Vegas, have exploited the rules, but not to the extent the public thinks.
Players that are injured and expect to return close to playoff time are perhaps discussed about the possibility of prolonging it a few games for cap relief. Do I think that happens? Yes. A FEW games. Not like the public thinks.
I've never met, known, seen, or believed any professional athlete that has worked all his life to be where they are, be willing to sit out if they could play.
Also... their play dictates their contract. It's a big risk coming into game 1 or whatever of the P.O.s compared to game 79 to shape up.
I don't buy the big conspiracy but I certainly believe the circumvention
Sure, but if you send down Savoie, they're no longer over the cap, Kane can be "activated from LTIR" and traded, like for a pick, then that cap money is just gone, right?Doesn't really circumvent the Issue.
You can't use LTIR to exceed the cap if the player on LTIR plays for someone else.
