Yeah too bad we need to win now, not 3 years from now.

Also maybe it's time to talk about how Emberson is just a warm body and nothing more.

Savoie will be in the top 6 next year and probably even spot duty there this year as we go along. Beauty assist to Drai on his first point and has set up two clean odd man rushes with great feeds. He has a good feel for the game and is cost controlled.

McLeod was awful in the playoffs too.

It won't matter next year. This team's window is closing fast, if it's not already closed.

Also Eberle wasn't good in the playoffs his first year either. Good thing we traded him for nothing.

Having a top ten pick who becomes a good top 6 forward and has a lot of talent and is only 21 years old is actually how you lengthen a window.

So far it appears to me that Emberson is an upgrade on Desharnais.
I think we should aim a bit higher than that.

Again, it won't matter next year. Lengthening a window? Do you think McDavid sticks around if his team flubs another playoffs this year? No reason for him to do so. And the instant his mind goes elsewhere is the instant this franchise goes belly up.

Wonder if Ilya Mikheyev is someone the Oilers might have some interest in. He would inject some serious speed into the lineup, but Henrique or Arvidsson likely have to go out, maybe Chicago would retain a bit. But they're doing f*** all anyway, so no big loss.

McLeod is only 25yrs old and NHL ready. He's also 6'3 vs Savoie at 5'9.

McLeod plays like he's 5'5 though, lol.

I think we should aim a bit higher than that.

They have to pay whatever it takes to get Gibson or Binnington or barring that Saros. That's just all there is to it.

The current tandem experiment is over, it died where it should have died last June, but in case the message wasn't received, here it is again in Sunrise, Florida, this time the Oilers org won't be able to ignore it.

Well...he is a bottom pairing dman. I honestly dont see an issue there.

The issue on defence for me this season starts and ends with Bouchard.

When the bad Bouchard shows up the team suffers.

Kulak has been very good.
Klingberg is still getting up to speed and Nurse has been okay.
Ekholm has been good for most of the season and lately due to having to be on Bouchards left side is likely suffering from PTSD...lol

Stecher has been okay whenever he is needed. I actually think that Stecher is a decent #7 dman,
His size does concern me though in the playoffs.

Mikheyev is just another Kapanen

10 years into his career and they still haven’t built a good team around him

Also wasted a 1st round pick to trade for this bum when we could've gotten an actual impact player.
The Oilers were the only team to trade their first that deadline. Other teams got better players for less. I remember Servalli asking why the hell we gave up a first - the. He ran through all the better players who went for far less

That was because we thought he had a plan for Holloway and Broberg in that context it seemed good. There turned out to be no plan and even when they traded Ceci they did not match one of the two. That was the cardinal mistake there. Screwing up and over spending is one thing but dropping less desirable salary to defend one or both those players when you had the room and not doing it is plain stupid. We will eat that mistake for 10 years.

We need a top 4 d-man and scoring forward with speed and size...... wonder what this will cost us, my bet is more than a 2nd and 3rd.
I wish we would hire competent managers for once

Very few here misses McLeod and rightfully so.

Who cares if he’s tall when he’s soft as as hell.
2mil cap hit for someone on pace for almost 50pts, kills penalties, fast and playing top 6 is great value though. Majority of Sabres' media and fans seem to really like the guy.

The average top 6 player puts up 0.4 ppg 5v5. This point in the season if you are a contender you should have at least 6 guys putting up 20 points for your forwards. Florida does, Vegas does, Toronto does, Washington does, Carolina does, Winnipeg does and Dallas does. That’s every other top 2 division team.
How many do we have? 4. Our 3rd best 5v5 guy points wise is most of those teams 6th guy.
This teams top 6 is awful offensively.

He’s a better hockey player this year than any of Henrique, Podkolzin, Skinner or Arvidsson. McLeod would be 3rd on our team in 5v5 points.

Players on last placed teams tend to pump up their stats. McLeod never meets those numbers on our team. It’s nice to see him doing well; he needs it for his next contract.

15 goals, 30-40pts as a 3C on this Oilers team would be good enough. He was suppose to be the Sabres 3C but got moved to 2C because of his play.

Savoie looked good until DoorKnob decided to cut down his minutes and now scratch him. McLeod is soft as baby shit, they have enough of that on this team.

Have you watched McLeod lately? Yes he doesn't hit, but he is still a hard forechecker who causes turnovers and gets the puck to his teammates. Defensively reliable and wins faceoffs.
