Since the end of January, starting that Buffalo game, which they won but looked really bad.

They had guys in and out of the lineup/missing practices due to illness for a while heading into the break so that stretch at least wasn't really surprising to me. Definitely doesn't explain the last 3 games though.

You realize this year the rest of the NHL is as weak as its ever been? This little losing streak aside we have already seen regression from our older players this season.

You're not entirely wrong, the entire roster (sans Drai) seems to be faltering all at once. But it seems a little premature to write them off for this year, this team has more to give.

I have him in front of Bouchard this year. He has more even strength goals, more even strength points, and plays more minutes. He's clearly better defensively than Bouchard and doesn't make 5-alarm turnovers almost every game. If Bouchard gets back to his 2024 playoff form, then that changes things. But right now Parayko is a better defenseman than Bouchard.

Parayko probably shouldn't be playing 24 minutes a night. But him paired with Nurse would give a legitimate 22 minutes a night on the second pairing, shave off a minute from Ekholm and Bouchard, and push Kulak down to 17 minutes with Klingberg.

All this is moot because I don't think there's any way they get Parayko.

Bouchard's 2024 playoff performance was 1st ballot HOF caliber, Parayko has struggled mightily to fill in Pietro's shoes ever since he left, for the most part he has been below water in a top pairing role. I liken Parayko to a 15% better Eric Brewer, a great toolset a little more flash than substance in the areas that count and while a solid piece will never be a franchise cornerstone player like Bouchard is clearly capable of being.

Guy has 14 goals this year and had a very good 4 Nations. You are seriously underrating him.

Bouchard was overlooked for a good reason.

Nope. He isn’t putting up numbers better than Pickard- so you already have Skinner level goaltending as a back up

Not really. Lowe is still with the team. So is Bobby Burgers. And that godawful goalie coach. This team has failed for decades. There’s serious rot in the org.

1- make sure Kane is on board that he is on LTIR the whole season

2- use that cap space, preferably in net

Anything less than this and it's a fireable offense on the GM.

I will grant that perhaps we've already done #1 and that #2 is on the way. If it were, the smart thing to do would be to not talk about it.
