Kyper has us in on Binnington....

That does feel like a very "Jeff Jackson had a talk with Daryl Katz after the 4 Nations Tournament and was told to go get Binnington because the McDavid + Binnington 4 Nations Magic" Oilers type of thing to do.

Hearing McDavid say "everyone says Binner's a winner for a reason" in the post press conference, wouldn't surprise me if the Oilers are now obsessed with getting Binnington.

Plus Holland did apparently have a deal for Binnington setup (that was apparently quite steep). Maybe Binnington is willing to waive his NMC this time around (Oilers have made a Cup Finals since).

Some people (Gregor, Rishaug, posters here) say Skinner "proved" the team can win the cup with him, even though the team literally lost. At least Binnington has actually won the cup. Not to mention that there is no universe in which Skinner plays like Binnington in that final game against the US.

Need barf reaction emoji

Binnington may not be perfect but he has a fiery personality like Smith did and he's shown that he can win the big game twice in his career.

My preference honestly would be Gibson and I think the price on Gibson is actually cheaper than it would be on Binnington, but it's hard to deny that when he gets into a zone he is lights out. He does allow a few too many bad goals though for my taste, but he does have an ability to elevate his play along the lines of a Roloson or Curtis Joesph. And yeah he is a fire brand of a personality.

Bit head scratching that we're apparently afraid of Gibson because of his contract but are in on Binnington, the guy who pretty much makes the same for just as long and already blocked a trade here once in the last 15 months.

I bet this is a lot of "Daryl Katz was watching the 4 Nations win and wants to know why we don't have that guy as our goalie. Connor likes him, go get him".

I think it's Gibson being an NHL regular since age 18, so he's already got 13 busy years under his belt, they're worried about rapid decline, which I think is fair, but the status quo just won't cut it.

Guy is a competitor on a team with a lot of passengers. He has about as many intangibles as you can ask for as a goalie.

Rob Brown and Struddy were saying the second goal was all on Bouchard- that Start shouldn't have even had to move. What in the actual f***. Bouchard played it horribly, but now they are at the stage of absolving Skinner of having to make saves

Add to that the other teams have a lesser chance of re-signing him. He said his preference in Edmonton.
Yeah, I heard that. They're f***ing morons. It amazes me that guys that played the sport professionally can read a play so poorly. "he shouldn't have had to move" f*** off haha

I mean sure. I do wonder how steep the price is going to be. We gave them Holloway and Broberg already, are they gonna get Savoie now too?

They must have missed when Skinner almost singlehandedly caused us to be eliminated against a far lesser team in the 2nd round...

Laughton is a 1st round pick. If a team needs to send a contract back the price will be a 1st+.

Jake Evans will likely get a 2nd round pick.

Rantanen getting moved is possible. He didn't want to be traded and doesn't think he signs with them. Thinks Necas is free now that he is having fun playing hockey.

LOL a 2nd rounder for a 4th liner and a 1st for a 3rd liner? LMAO

This board put Binnington over the fire prior to the Final game of the 4Nations Cup and now all of a sudden he's "The guy". It's not 2019 anymore, people. Also one glance at the standings shows that the Blues really aren't that far out of a playoff spot.

Binnington was probably going to eliminate that monster Avs team in 2022 if Kadri wasn't a jerk off and injured him "accidentally". I will say that.

I remember watching that series and really hoping St. Louis would pull it out so we wouldn't have to play Colorado.

If they're Binnington hunting it's more than just a trade for a goalie. Likely it an order that comes straight from Katz quite possibly. Jeff Jackson would also have the frame work for a deal because Holland apparently did have a deal set up for Binnington around October 2023 (right before Woodcroft was canned).

They would view it as getting insurance for a McDavid extension I think ("see Connor? Now we even got you your Golden Goal Team Canada goalie! It's not just Leon, you gotta figure a Cup is gonna happen with Leon and you said Binner is a winner right! Why go anywhere else?").

Frank Seravelli basically doubling down on what he said previously.

Saying that Kane could be coming back and our deadline will likely be dollar in dollar out.

Also saying that because of that, we can really only afford one move. He believes based on his conversation with Bowman on Friday, that they believe that goaltending isn't what's holding them back. He thinks that we need a dman to play with Nurse as our top priority.

That Kadri rattled him so hard isn't really a glowing endorsement of him, especially if we have to go up against the many rats on playoff teams (including Kadri himself).

It wasn't an issue of being rattled, he was f***ing hurt. Kadri totally did that on purpose too, he's lying out of his ass saying it was an accident.

Binnington was frustrating the Avs and the Blues had all the momentum in that series, Kadri saw a chance to try and injure the player holding the Avs down and took it.
