This is a very realistic view on the goalie market and situation for the Oilers.

Gibson is a near zero chance.

Talbot I doubt Detroit trades him whether they’re in or out at the TD. They signed him for two years to be the transition to Cossa.

Vejmelka is probably most interesting, I’d say there’s a better chance of them keeping him rather than deal him but if the wheels come right off for them maybe they trade him to get something and look to bring him back in the summer.

Lyon is a guy who could be a good 1B option for cheap. Again who knows if Detroit would make him available if still in the hunt.

Quick is almost assured to be available if he wants and would come cheap. Not the same goalie he used to be but he’s a vet and has lots of playoff experience. Wouldn’t be a bad bet for a guy able to come in and give you a good run if Skinner craters.

The thing the Oilers have going for them is that there’s maybe one other playoff team looking for a goalie in Carolina and they might be fine with their pair. Oilers won’t be in a bidding war on any of these guys.

Gibson is not a zero chance. Friedman said a couple weeks back that he is the only goalie that Oilers have had discussions about. For anyone who wants Vejmelka, I don't think we are going to get him

I mean exactly he’s an elite goalie. He was being elite that night and the Oilers couldn’t afford a weak goal against. I’m not saying it’s all on Skinner. Forwards needed to get one but to suggest Skinner doesn’t deserve blame at all is lazy.

Comparing that game to Binningtons game is even more ridiculous. He played against one of the best teams ever assembled and made more big saves in OT than skinner did all series.

If you told people before game 7 that Skinner would hold Florida to 2 goals they would’ve been happy.

If you told them McDrai would have 0 points they’d say “we’re f***ed”.

The Oilers are built to win through our offence. Ask anyone around the league and they’ll tell you the same. Skinner’s job is to keep us in games, not to steal them. Anyone who thinks otherwise should look at our pay structure.

Skinner did his job by holding one of the league’s best offences to only two goals. Our offence unfortunately didn’t show up and that’s what cost us. You can’t win a championship game by scoring one goal.

Ken Holland said this repeatedly, he's not here anymore. Stan has said they're satisfied with the goaltending overall, but there has not be a statement of no change is being considered.

Management and the coaching staff know they might need more out of the goaltending, what they've said is they willing to accept the current goaltending going forward, assuming they can't find a deal or a player.

Unless those are significant pluses, doesn't make much sense.

I like you man but is this necessary? People shouldn't have to feel the need to walk on eggshells if they dare defend Skinner. People should feel free to post opinions without receiving ridicule especially when it's a reasonable post defending a goalie that gave up only 2 goals in a game in which the team only scored 1. It's possible to say that Skinner should have had the Reinhart goal while also saying that the team should have scored more than 1 goal (a goal scored by a 3rd liner mind you) to give a little run support.

To be fair the GM isn’t going to come out and say we don’t like the goaltending we’re looking to upgrade, a statement like that certainly won’t help your goalies be better and it won’t improve your bargaining position.

People who think this team is going to replace skinner as the 1A are living in a fantasy world, he’s their guy and he’s not going anywhere. But I think it’s realistic if not likely that they get another goalie to tandem with him that they can trust to take over if he does fall apart at some point.

Higher end goalies have an ability to raise their game in bigger situations, it’s just a quirk of the position. Bob did it to us in multiple games in the Final including the 7th game.

Saying Draisaitl and McDavid had a bad game 7 isn't "slander" lol. They didn't have any points. Do you think they had a good game? It's possible to acknowledge that they are great players that had a great playoffs (overall) while acknowledging that they didn't do their part in the most important game. No one is saying they are trash.
