Jimmy, at least admit that he tends to lose focus which I think was the case in game 7. Did our D make mistakes..... yes but they played above their head for most of the playoffs.
Ceci didn't, neither did Vinny. But I guess we can be ignorant to any reality we want. Again, it can be a team loss with several factors, but if you need it to be an individual for a personal issue you personally have, enjoy?

We should have won that series in 6 games if we had a proper higher end starter, period.

Spamming the "McDavid to Win!" button only works so much and even Connor is human, he needs help.

He doesn't win last night or even have a chance to cement his legacy with his own "golden goal" moment if Binnington doesn't stand on his head in OT.

Great players still need a lot of help.

lol. Nothing personal. Just history, an observation and the good ol sniff test.

That Lankinen contract is hilarious.

It’s basically Koskinen.

I guess the difference being the cap is significantly higher (95.5 million next year).

But for people who think Gibson is a "massive risk" at like 3.2-4 mill retained, understand something ... even middle tier guys are going to be earning 4.5-6+ starting like now.

There are going to be a lot of contracts signed this Summer that will be totally fine but also totally shock people.

People still aren't ready for how high the cap is about to rise.

Skinner could and will never do what Binnington did last night.
The thing is Binnington is more athletic than Skinner. That’s why Skinner could never.

Is demko available? Would he be of any interest to the Oilers or is he broken now?
He’s broken. The issue he has is one that he has to learn to play with, but that seems to be easier said than done.

I think the playoffs was more good than bad if you look at the individual games. The save pct, was down because the bad games were really bad but there was fewer of them IMO.
Just to reiterate, I'm not defending his play this year. Skinner has been more good than bad the previous two years but the bad is definitely outweighing the good this season, he needs to right the ship.

Regardless, my post was in response to those who said that Skinner never steals games/could never do what Binnington did in a big game etc. Just not true
Is Skinner inconsistent? Absolutely. Has Skinner shown the ability to elevate in big games? Absolutely as well
Skinner was 11th in goals saved above expected in the playoffs. There wasn’t more good than bad. He was one of the worst goalies in the playoffs this past year, and has been the worst in the cap era

Senators better be prepared to trade Brady... because he isn't staying in Ottawa.
I said the same thing to my buddies. He is going back to the US as soon as he can

It's actually hilarious seeing a guy love bottom of the barrel standards.

I can see both sides of the fence. We spend more on offense. You "should" rely on that.

That doesn't excuse this sh** goaltending standards either. $3.55 MILL CDN for being close to the bottom lol.

Imagine championing that

Like all of these bootlicking media

Championing mediocrity
I said it earlier in the thread (or maybe the last thread) the Oilers are oddly proud of the below average goaltending they get at rock bottom prices.

Can you imagine what a Canuck fan would have said if a year ago, you predicted that the team would make 2 bad free agent signings, and then trade JT Miller and those two signings for Marcus Petterson, Drew O'Connor, and cap space to sign Kevin Lankinen to a 22.5M contract?

Carolina is a contender. I can't imagine that they would actually do this. But if they could, yep, GO GET HIM STAN!

Can you imagine Hyman - McDavid - Rantanen? Holy smokes.

Money matters more than winning to ownership there. He’s probably the biggest cheap skate in the league at the moment.

That team is destined for an internal cap while being non participants in signing anyone that demands up front money (basically any good UFA), or upgrading their team in a way that isn’t dumpster diving.

Man, the goalie market is thiiiiiin.

It's actually better than the forward and D market.

Gibson has top numbers this year, Vejmelka is up there too, good luck getting anyone that would fit into that category on D. Oleksiask and like Ristolanien are "big fish", whoopity doo.

I don't see Carolina dealing Rantanen unless they get a giant return, they just gave away Necas for him.

Sid on goalies, for those of curious or mad at numbers.

I'm still high on Vejmelka.

This is a very realistic view on the goalie market and situation for the Oilers.

Gibson is a near zero chance.

Talbot I doubt Detroit trades him whether they’re in or out at the TD. They signed him for two years to be the transition to Cossa.

Vejmelka is probably most interesting, I’d say there’s a better chance of them keeping him rather than deal him but if the wheels come right off for them maybe they trade him to get something and look to bring him back in the summer.

Lyon is a guy who could be a good 1B option for cheap. Again who knows if Detroit would make him available if still in the hunt.

Quick is almost assured to be available if he wants and would come cheap. Not the same goalie he used to be but he’s a vet and has lots of playoff experience. Wouldn’t be a bad bet for a guy able to come in and give you a good run if Skinner craters.

The thing the Oilers have going for them is that there’s maybe one other playoff team looking for a goalie in Carolina and they might be fine with their pair. Oilers won’t be in a bidding war on any of these guys.

Binnington, like Skinner in Game 7, only gave up 2 goals...the difference being Canada managed to score a tying goal down 2-1 in a Championship game against an elite goalie...something the Oilers failed to do
still banging this drum hey? Blame the best players to protect useless f***ing Skinner. Enjoy those moustache rides, Mrs. Skinner.
