Nuge had 18, played on the pp all year, wasn’t injured, doesn’t hit and is on the wrong side of 30.
But sure, keep running your mouth about Kane.
Nuge plays the wrong side on the pp, Draisaitl has the LH strong position for obvious reasons. If we had a RH forward on that side just think of the shooting options Oil would have.

Nuge has always been very good on the pp. Sample size is of course a factor but here are the pp stats over the last three years with the combination of Nuge, McDavid and Draisaitl:

Here are the numbers early in Nuges career with Hall and Eberle:

There is more to a pp than just setting up one timers.

Biron getting ratio'd in the comments too, including by Canucks fans (more reasonable ones on there than HFmains I guess lol). Marty's just being a contrarian for clicks (it worked)
He was also talking to noted Canucks homer I believe.

He was crying a lot during the series

Just kidding, he wasn’t talking to farhan like I originally thought

Keep dreaming
That’s what keeps us going.

You kept dreaming that Bouchard would fail.

I couldn’t possibly care less about any of this.

You’re shouting at clouds, all I ever mentioned was the stupidity of complaining about scoring on non playoff teams.

Time for you to go to bed maybe.
lol, you sure reply a lot for not caring. You are also cherry picking 1 small part of a larger argument and can’t answer my question. Me shouting at clouds? The only thing in the clouds is my point as it sails over your head.

Not sure where you went with this, or why.
My point is Nuge plays on his weak side for the pp. His point total would probably be better if he played the other side (he needs to turn his body to shoot when on left side).
A right handed shot would be an advantage as would have 2 one- timer threats.

RNH has the slowest and most predictable release in the league. He wouldn't score any more if he was in Drai's spot. Love him, but he's better off as an overpaid 3C elite PKer at this point. Is only capable of generating offense when he's backpacked by mcd

RNH's release is fine. He just dusts off every backdoor pass anyone dishes to him and it's so frustrating to watch. A guy who plays like that is better off playing in the bottom 6 but he plays higher up because he plays responsible hockey

The bolded is what I was responding to. Nuge's role on the pp is not really to be a one time shooter. Adding a RHS addresses one aspect of the pp but it is not at all clear that you don't lose much more.

Nurse for Nuke? Both have 6 years left. Who says no?
Nuke? Nichushkin?

It's an interesting idea, I think the Avs just keep him because he doesn't count against the cap while forced in to Player's Assistance Program, plus they're probably in a 'spot' where they can complain enough for free buyout.

The name, besides Parayko, that I keep circling back to in a deal for Nurse is Severson.

The Oilers would have to retain on Nurse, but it might be do able, as Severson has 1 more year than Nurse.

I like Ekblad Pionk but they’re on contenders. Then you’ve got Larsson, maybe Seattle slips out again. Tough to find a Ceci upgrade on the rental market eh.

Marty Birons perspective...

Weak take IMO.

Did he just say the Canucks are the best team in Canada? What kind of hoop jumping shit is that? I think people should check his alcohol levels with a take like that. The lost a top center and a top 4 d man. They signed Debrusk to a massive deal and our number 7 d man to a 2 million dollar deal for two years

Caught Seravalli on Calgary radio this morning.
Stupid host asks “you gotta think Draisaitl will leave to test free agency, right?”
Frank: “ not me, no”

Also they told him they don’t think the Oilers improved at all in free agency and asked what Frank thinks, he says “oh I think they got significantly better”

TVR out of Washington should be the target, he fits well with his cap hit, he has a ton of experience and is a much better puck mover.

Let's take a look at this claim. Over the last 3 years Nuge has 89 5 vs 5 points. McDavid was in on 27 of those or 30.3% of his points. In that period he played 2097 minutes in total and 902 minutes with McDavid. That is 30.3% of his 5 vs 5 time. Moreover, of the points McDavid was in on 7 were goals scored in which both players assisted on the goal. In those 7 goals Nuge had the primary assist on 5.

Over his career Nuge has typically been in on roughly 70% of the goals scored 5 vs 5 when he is on the ice. After he started playing with McDavid that dropped down substantially. In fact playing with McDavid his IPP over the last three years has been 55.9%.

Aside from this, any argument the Nuge is overpaid seems difficult to back up.

Sign Kylington to 1M x 2 years. Trade Ceci so we can free space for Holloway and Broberg. Start Kane so we can have accrued cap space and let him have his surgery during the season. If Kane comes back early we are not going to get screwed over from the cap.

Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-Kulak
Kylington-Broberg
J. Brown

The whole handiness is overrated.

Go big fishing at the trade deadline

I like Kylington, but not for this team. Had to take a year off for mental health? Well your mental health will be tested here if you don't show up on this team. I also don't like the idea of putting him with a green Broberg. Who is the defensive conscience on that line?

I just think that he is too much of a project. If we upgrade the D, it needs to be exactly that, a clear upgrade.

He did ever so slightly edge Desharnais in secondary assists last season. He’s just halfway through a 3 year deal too, and Washington looks to be trying to hang on to their playoff berth based on their moves.

He'll never give Oilers credit. It's always blah blah you have McDrai and they are 'arguably' 2 of the top players in the league blah blah but blah blah Vancouver or Toronto number 1

Let's take a look at this claim. Over the last 3 years Nuge has 39 5 vs 5 points. McDavid was in on 27 of those or 30.3% of his points.

I don’t think this math maths. Unless I’m misinterpreting what you’re saying, 27 of 39 is a bit more than 30%…

When Nuge isn’t playing well he plays slow. Slow to shoot, slow to make decisions, slow feet, etc.

More of an annoyance than a major issue though.
