People need to relax on the Ceci-Nurse bs. Yes, they didn't play well together, but like people have alluded to, we can get an upgrade on defence later in the year. Ceci and Kulak also have 1 year left, so they'd be easy to move for an upgrade in any trade this year. For now, just get a #6-7 dman and just play with what we got. Broberg is a lock IMO. We should look more solid next year.

We cannot run it back with Ceci and we don't need to if we resign Desharnais... he's cheaper and better suited to the bottom-pairing role-player that we want to have come playoff time when our #2RD has been upgraded at the deadline.

We know Ceci isn't that guy and he's too expensive to fill in until then... trade him know and start banking the cap. $3.3M traded at the deadline means a $3.3M guy coming back. $3.3M traded now could mean $9M++ at the deadline, depending on how much you pay your stopgap.

We need to be focussed on our playoff roster. That means taking some sacrifices on our opening night roster to save cap for the deadline.

Unfortunately (or fortunately if you are the one doing it) teams will exploit the LTIR to the max. the Oilers need to do the same.
