3.9-2.7-2.4

Then -$1.5 million for the last 3 seasons.
It does not save 3,9 this season because his buried is 3.9, and the cap hit is 1.1 so 2.8 this season next season buried 3.9 cap hit 2.3 so 1.6 Third season 3.9 2.6 1.3 Than 4.5 million dead cap next over last 3 seasons they only save 1.2 million in total on the cap period

Dead cap isn’t an investment when it lowers your overall cap space. Dead cap is literally a punishment for poor management. Calling it an investment is like saying your Tesla stock is down 30% so you’re jumping ship and calling your stop loss an investment. Your overall portfolio is down. You lost money. Sure you freed up some money to buy other stock- but you’re buying power is way less.

Anyways- he’s being bought out- no point discussing further

Still more buying power than sitting on the player. Bad player on your roster = dead cap and more of it. If cap penalties were so dire and so punitive, nobody would do it.

Sunk cost fallacy. Sitting on contracts for bad players to your detriment because of a fear of a penalty makes zero sense from any perspective.

Thankfully he’s gone, we replaced him with a better goalie for $1M, and opened up space to add other players to help us.

Well I'm going off of the cap hit for his buyout on capfriendly. Yes we could've sent him down and that would've saved some $ as you say. $2.8 and $1.6 million can be the difference between winning a cup and not. No one can win with all league minimum players in the bottom 6. What would you have attached to him to shed his entire cap hit for the next 3 years out of curiousity?

DNB names Arvidsson, Debrusk, Toffoli, Perron and Monahan, Martinook as our potential forward targets and Carrier, Walker as our defensive options
Perron is a bit long in the tooth, Monahan probably means that Henrique is a goner. Martinook would be a solid depth add. Cap has to be moving if we are signing even 1 of the first 5 guys.

Not to beat the "played with Connor in junior" thing to death, but if Raddysh could be had for a good number, I think he would be a good signing. He also has Knob to offer up how coachable he is, on top of the Connors. If he didn't come in and produce, he is at least a solid 4th like and PK option, again if the $ is right. I would actually prefer a flyer on him over Debrusk, assuming a top 6 role is where Raddysh would be given a shot at. Then maybe there would be enough for a Ceci upgrade and/or having enough to convince Rico to stay.

3.9 times 3 is 11.7 million the cap hit from the buyout is 10.5 so 11.7 for 3 was the better route and a lot easier to move a contract with 2 or 1 year left

He's also a pretty decent player when on his game. Didn't he hit 20 goals once

I'm far from a capologist, but we are finally coming out of the flat cap era and $1.5 million won't be a very hefty buyout burden in years 4-6. We need the cap now over these next 2-3 years specifically to go for a cup while McDrai are in their primes.

Curious about Raddysh. 20 goals 2 years ago. Looked like a versatile scorer that could score at net front (tips, rebounds, battling) and with outside snipes. Toiling away on a dumpster fire Chicago team for years, maybe it finally got him in the dumps and could explain his production fall off. Familiarity with Knob and McD. Could he be a cheap Foegele replacement? Heard he’s a decent PKer too.

Wonder if the posters that said ‘he’s not a bad guy that he no longer plays for the Flames’ still feel that way. What a puke.

Good. Let him feed McDavid's rage. Let McDavid take that shit personally.

That will bring us glory.

Seriously though if he said shit like this a week ago, we'd be all partying in the streets right now. 😂

No Brown or Janmark would be a massive fail. Getting the RFAs re-signed is a bare minimum.

People whine and moan about Holland but even he could have gotten Brown and Janmark re-signed

Call me out and yet all of the bitching about the most obvious buy out of all time. Laughably misdirected

Brown and Janmark’s agents are doing their job.

You do not sign a contract before you see what’s out there.

Tkachuk you know you left Alberta two years ago, right? It's hilarious that he cares so much about the Oilers now as a rival than he cared about the Flames while he was playing for them.

Meanwhile the crowd is quickly googling this mysterious person named "Ed Monton".

Sounds like he was terrible except on the PK last year according to some Hawks fans on the mains. If we can get him for 1-2 years at a hit that could be burried, I'd be down for it. Seems to have good hands and is willing to get to and park in front of the net. Thats how goals are scored in the playoffs.

Plenty of UFAs decide to re-sign with a team they played for. They likely have a good idea of what's out there. If they want to return it will have to be for a bit less. They know that already
