Solution as a backup, sure. But Cal Pickard, as good as he has been, is what he is at this point. A career backup/AHL tweener. 18-8 is a solid record, but keep in mind that a lot of those games were not against playoff teams. The competition gets harder as we go along.

A quality starter is the solution. With the logic you're using, we should get rid of Adam Henrique if McDavid isn't performing.

Brown should thank his lucky stars the Oilers are giving him an opportunity to draw a regular shift and paycheck in the NHL. If he wants anything north of a minimal raise, then bye-bye.

The thing about Pickard playing weaker teams to consider is that the Oilers typically are terrible in front of those teams. Those aren't always easy nights.
