Rumors Proposals Thread Post Deadline Apocalypse 3rd Times A Charm Stu Stu Stupider Management May the Schwartz be with You

Solution as a backup, sure. But Cal Pickard, as good as he has been, is what he is at this point. A career backup/AHL tweener. 18-8 is a solid record, but keep in mind that a lot of those games were not against playoff teams. The competition gets harder as we go along.
He looked pretty good last night against a decent opponent when given the opportunity. :D

Again, HE isn't the problem.

I stand by the opinion, with a competent goaltender and Holloway, we are already at 50 wins and look unstoppable.
So you are standing by your newest and latest opinion now? Because before, you stated it was only Holloway that was needed for us to claim the cup this year.;):D

One game sample size in the regular season. Great, goaltending isn't a concern anymore.

Again, HE isn't the solution either.
He's 19-8. Most of the teams he's faced haven't been near the top. But again, that's not his job. His job is to beat those other teams and give the starter a rest, like any other backup in the league. And it can be argued that there have been none better in the league at that position and expectation. Of course he isn't the solution, but he isn't a problem out of a roster of 23 players. A quality starter is the solution. With the logic you're using, we should get rid of Adam Henrique if McDavid isn't performing.

I never said to get rid of Pickard. I said he isn't the solution.

The thing about Pickard playing weaker teams to consider is that the Oilers typically are terrible in front of those teams. Those aren't always easy nights.
