Rumors Proposals Thread Post Deadline Apocalypse 3rd Times A Charm Stu Stu Stupider Management May the Schwartz be with You

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

More Germans

I quite like this move, can never go wrong with adding a player for free. It’s just one more bullet in the chamber. Even though he’s 23 already I like the upward trajectory he’s had in his offensive stats the last few years. Might be something here down the road.

As for other guys I’m watching closely from Europe.

McDavid's agent:
"Good news Stan. McDavid is willing to sign 12.5*8 as long as you fire Schwartz, get two new high quality goalies, and throw in a solid gold doggie bowl for Lenny. Otherwise, he will continue to put up with your incompetence and stay for the fans, but he will take no less than 20*8."

Bowman at the press conference:
"Thank you for coming everyone. We've got great news to announce. We have just signed Connor McDavid to an eight year 160 million dollar contract extension!"

I was looking the other day at some KHL stats and was wondering if a guy like Comtois gets a look back in the NHL next year.

I could see us giving Carter Hart a shot if proved innocent in his court case (Trial starts in late April and will last a couple of months). We do seem to be the organization that gives second chances to people (players, management, etc), like it or not.
His past stats really aren’t that bad, I’m sure we would all take .905+ goaltending at this point

0.79 is better than 0.74

Be a tough go for him to get back into NHL shape IMO. Be different if he was playing somewhere right now, but being out of the game for a year and half if not more will be tough for a goalie.

At least some of those others are playing in the KHL keeping themselves in hockey shape

I 100% see this as how the team tries to solve goaltending over the offseason. Probably Hart and someone like Reimer, leading to the most hated tandem in the league by fans.

We should aim higher than that IMO. We have the entire offseason to get goaltending right for a change.
Imo he's best available. Maybe we could get Saros but all these teams probably aim for a bounce back season. Goalies likely not for sale. Gibson is the exception.

This offseason likely involves aiming lower than that. Aim for a Leafs style offseason in terms of goalies. Find a Stolarz

Aim big, medium and small. Big for a top 15 #1 goalie, medium for a top 35 goalie and small for a top end AHL goalie. The entire goaltending needs to be revamped in this organization.

Don't forget the most important change: goalie coach. You could bring in Hellebuyck and Schwartz would turn him into a 0.908 save percentage goalie.

He needs to crawl back into the hole he came out of when he got hired here. Complete overhaul, only guy I'd consider bringing back and that would be as a #3 is Pickard.

Suspect they will look long and hard at Gibson.
I feel like they already did, and didn't like what Anaheim wanted, along with the risks associated with Gibson.

I'd like him, Bininngton or someone of that ilk retained down, and someone like Soderblom brought in to back up and maybe take the starter role eventually.

Heres some 3d chess managing lets trade a what looks to be early to mid 20's first rounder for a 2nd round prospect. That alone should get Jacksons ass terminated before you add not matching the offersheets.

Imagine the first one is the German we signed?
The other? Euro signing… makes me believe free agent and not our own prospect, like Beryozkin?

If the Oilers are bounced early(highly likely) then Bowman and Jackson better not be looking for goaltending. They better be looking for another job
