Hey now, those are McDavid numbers, can't be so bad?-10 in 13 GP feels like the wrong kind of fire

Let’s go get Darryl Sutter then. He’s won Cups and has a series win within the last decade. Who gets swept by the Preds?Oh come on.
Winning experience matters a lot more in the locker room with a coach, not so much a GM. I find it silly the org prioritizes that in a GM, but don't pretend it doesn't matter when it comes to the guy behind the bench in a tight game, or adjusting to a look that the team struggles with. It's the same reason McDrai liked Perry and Keith around.
The panthers that won, and that played under Q were different teams. No Tkachuk, Forsling hadn't broken out, only had Bennett for like 17 games. Maurice is a great coach, I'd love him on this team. Unfortunately, he isnt available, so I'd like the other guy that won 3 cups.
I don't think Sutter would come here tbh. I also think Q's teams were more similar to ours than Sutter's championship teams. We don't have anything close to a Quick. I'd be open to him, but I definitely lean coach Q. I also think Q would come in as an Assistant to Knob and that could be the shot in the arm the team needs to shape up. No way Sutter, who doesn't have that baggage, would take an Assistant role.Let’s go get Darryl Sutter then. He’s won Cups and has a series win within the last decade. Who gets swept by the Preds?
Sometimes I think the Oilers need a little Sutter.Let’s go get Darryl Sutter then. He’s won Cups and has a series win within the last decade. Who gets swept by the Preds?
Sutter was half the reason the Flames lost to us.Sometimes I think the Oilers need a little Sutter.
Hahaha yah that’s what it was… not McDrai going absolutely supernova.Sutter was half the reason the Flames lost to us.
Markstrom and Sutters refusal to stop putting top lines against each other was why they lost that series. Also he was very likely the reason Gaudreau and Tkachuk left.Hahaha yah that’s what it was… not McDrai going absolutely supernova.
So why did you say go get him?Markstrom and Sutters refusal to stop putting top lines against each other was why they lost that series. Also he was very likely the reason Gaudreau and Tkachuk left.
So you think this team is either good enough, or any attempt to improve is futile as we have no chance?Sarcasm.
So the goalie and Calgary’s best players getting owned by our best players is the reason they lost. That’s what I thought also.Markstrom and Sutters refusal to stop putting top lines against each other was why they lost that series. Also he was very likely the reason Gaudreau and Tkachuk left.
I don't think the Kings were overly fond of Sutter either despite the success. So the goalie and Calgary’s best players getting owned by our best players is the reason they lost. That’s what I thought also.
You really think 2 proud Americans chose to go back on long term deals to their home country… one close to home and one to sandy beaches mostly because of a coach? Come on.
I've certainly not agreed with everything Knoblauch has done, but more dinosaurs isn't the answer. So you think this team is either good enough, or any attempt to improve is futile as we have no chance?
I don't see how bringing in a fresh set of eyes that has seen it all behind the bench, could possibly be a bad thing. Mind you, I'm advocating for bringing him on to assist Knob. I don't think Knob has earned a firing, especially with what he accomplished last year. And with Q's situation, now might be the only chance we have to bring a guy like him in for that role.
Well, I'm asking you what you think should be done? Anything? You're kinda just speaking in generalities and not providing any type of constructive debate, basically just saying "nuh uh".I don't think the Kings were overly fond of Sutter either despite the success.

My solution would be a drastic overhaul of the front office that insists on hiring friends and has been a failure for the past few decades. The one that can't draft, trade, or sign players to good contracts. The one that has always seen McDavid as a ticket to a Cup and has failed to put a competent roster around him.Well, I'm asking you what you think should be done? Anything? We all pined for dinosaur Holland to be fired, turns out the younger guy kinda blew up the roster. Dinosaur Corey Perry might have been the only majority disliked signing this offseason, and he's been the best one. I can even see how an old roster like ours, might respond better to a dinosaur like Q, kinda like the D have with Coffey.
Frederic would be Holloway replacement. I would send Dallas a 2nd+nothing prospect for Mavrik Bourque or they can risk losing him through offersheetI think the Oilers would be wise to target Brennan Othmann from the Rangers this summer, if they're down on him after seeing him sputter out of the gate. He might be a guy that could fill the void left by Holloway.
I guess so.. which is why my post started with " if we were really in on Rantanen and were willing to extend him for 13M per"ok. so we spend $11+ on a winger and run t
it back with the goaltending then?
RNH and Hyman isn't waiving their NMC. Kane and Arvid maybe. The only piece the Oilers have that Boston would be interested in is Bouchard. We can fit Pastrnak and most of our current roster players.I guess so.. which is why my post started with " if we were really in on Rantanen and were willing to extend him for 13M per"
Not sure what this organization is thinking but Pasta would be an ideal add on our top 6.
Swap Hyman, Nuge, Kane, Arvidsson with ELC players and we would still have a better top 6 with Pasta in.
We could fork up a 1st or prospects for some retention on Pasta. Also, Kane can now be traded to select teams so keeping him at 5M+ wouldn't make sense. We should be able to attract good UFAs for cheap if we add Pastrnak.RNH and Hyman isn't waiving their NMC. Kane and Arvid maybe. That's good enough for next season. Can make a big splash for a starting goalie and top 4 D at the deadline
