Rumors Proposals Thread Post Deadline Apocalypse 3rd Times A Charm Stu Stu Stupider Management May the Schwartz be with You

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Wasn't sure if you're being serious or not.
But is 3 goals & 5 assists in 13 games, even fire enough to cook marshmellows?

En fuego *before going pointless in the last three games this week.

Knoblauch seems like a decent coach but he has no intensity whatsoever. In a way that helps this group, keeps them more even keeled. But sometimes you need to charge them up and I’m not sure he’s so good at that. Maybe he needs more of that from the assistant coaches?

I don't see how you don't move on from Knoblauch at this point. Maybe give the reigns to Coffey. Nothing is working right now and this team has totally collapsed. Also, the Devils won the Cup in 2000 after replacing their head coach...on March 25th. Not saying we're likely to win anything, but something needs to be done now or we're throwing this season away. And this core always gets a boost with a coaching change.

It feels like the system isn’t working. Too much emphasis on goal suppression (that is clearly not working well lately, probably partly due to players gripping sticks with the goalies unable to make stops), and the offense has been coached out of the team

Doesn’t absolve the players but the team is as dull as the coach is projecting

Bring in Q. This team hasn't had a headcoach with championship experience in the McDrai era, have they? Q can provide some of that, at the least.

But our team has the skill to score. They are underperforming. The problem in net is that our goalies can play well, but they just aren't that talented.

In the playoffs, the team will tighten up and the talent will shine through. Last year, guys like Brown and Janmark lifted their games big time. Guys like Kane have done it in the past. Guys like Arvidsson will do so this year.
This is the thing.

I’m watching some other games today and there is no reason our forwards can’t impose their will on a game.

Lots of them refuse to bear down and go to some tough areas. It feels like they’re playing not to get hurt. That may not be the case but it looks that way to me.

Many here won't like it, but Q would coach this roster to a championship (or two). IMO this team is similar to the latter Hawks Cup teams (with worse goaltending, unfortunately, but better top two players to make up for it).

I think we have a better chance with him than Knob, for sure. Crazy how underrated Crawford is, I cringe when people compare Stu to him.

100%. Crawford was not elite but an above average goalie that had very high peaks. He didn't get carried to a Cup win. Never shit away a series like Skinner did vs Vegas and almost did (until being bailed out by Pickard) vs the Canucks.

I feel like those that compare the two never watched Crawford in his prime.

No comparison. We would already have a couple of Cups with Crawford’s numbers

Also to note...the Hawks D corps was far from perfect. Keith, Seabrook and Hjalmarsson were great linchpin D but they had to carry some mediocre or washed up D the last two Cups. They also didn't have crazy contributions from most of their bottom 6 (mostly defensive players).

The goaltending is still the primary issue with this team, followed by puzzling coaching decisions. The Oilers haven't had a truly great coach in the McDrai era.

If they are playing that way, imo its not the worst idea. Our team doesn't really care where it lands. I don't even think Draisaitl cares that he's getting a bit shafted in Hart voting. The team wants the cup

The team destroyed itself year after year for this past decade blowing assets on declining, overpaid veteran players and letting promising young players go, and your idea is to double down and replace our innovative young coach who just coached an incredibly flawed roster to Game 7 of the Finals with some washed up, set in his ways veteran coach????????????????????
Good for Ryan, but Savoie, Phillip…..even Rodrigue would be good call up options if the organization didn’t hate young players
Pretty much this. We could have a roster with guys like Holloway, McLeod, Broberg, and Kesselring but we kept denying them opportunities for inferior players because of muh veterancy and experience, and now we have no cheap young impact players to replace the overpaid declining veterans.

At some point you guys need to accept that we have a garbage roster full of aging, ineffective, overcosted players that contenders are usually trying to get rid of, while we do the opposite and sign them for good money or waste prospects/draft picks for them. The Henrique trade and signing being the prime example. And that's before we get into the fact that neither of our goalies are even league average. You could bring back Stan Bowman's dad and Scotty wouldn't be able to coach this team to a Cup. Though I suppose he would've at least had the sense to keep Holloway/Broberg and not take in possession killers like Henrique and Skinner.

They should have replaced Woodcroft with a veteran coach. I’m not talking about a dinosaur like Ruff but a younger coach with a good track record. Like how STL instantly snagged Montgomery the second Boston let him go. Did the team get to game 7 last year because of Knob or despite him and if it’s despite him would a more veteran coach with more respect from the officials have gotten us the Cup last year.

It’s this line of thinking that landed us the GMs we have had in the McDrai era. He led the Panthers nowhere. Maurice got them a Cup.
