No. What that tells you is that the other contenders have solid goaltending and didn’t try to trade for one.The fact no real goalies moved at the deadline tells ya how that either there were no goalies available or the price was too high

Ill go as far to say , if we dont see McDrai bringing a cup to Edmonton, then we fans wont be alive the next time the Oilers win a cup.The Oilers gambling the entire McDavid era on Stuart Skinner would be like if the Chicago Bulls bet the farm on Dickey Simpkins being Michael Jordan's sidekick and never wavered from it.
Did Petry command 10Mx8yrs?I can’t believe there’s talk of trading Bouchard, it’s like Oilers fans never learn. It’s almost dejavu, I remember reading the exact same things about Petry a decade ago- lack of compete, lackadaisical, soft, makes too many mistakes, lacks intensity- we traded him and he became a top pair d for Montreal the rest of his career, and we didn’t get another top pair right D until- surprise- we drafted Bouchard, who is already much better than Petry ever was. He’s already third in defensemen playoff PPG, just behind Orr and Makar. Frustrating player for sure but you guys underestimate how important he is to his team.
Also, you should have your hockey fan card revoked if you suggest trading a top pair right D for a winger.
McDrai era in Edmonton might last longer than the lives of many of us.Ill go as far to say , if we dont see McDrai bringing a cup to Edmonton, then we fans wont be alive the next time the Oilers win a cup.
Needed this place after the loss last night..Is it safe to come out now?
Bowman outright said that he wasn't looking for a goalie. I know it would be smart to say that no matter what was true, but Bowman still fully owns the goaltending situation. In the two weeks leading up to this deadline--people kept screaming to get a goalie. No real goalies changed hands at the deadline. People kept saying get a goalie, me and others asked which one? How do you know the oilers did not try hard to trade for one but the ask might have been too high for what they were giving up to get the goalie

I know not many goalies were traded, but most teams have a much better goaltending situation that we do. I'd say of the clear playoff teams we have by far the worst certainty. We might have had an upgrade by getting a cheap option
Yes, I said that, but the downside is that he is on the record as not wanting to change goalies. His media mouthpieces even said he was never in the market for one. So, this is a label that's firmly attached to himGMs will never tell the public just what they are up to because other teams will read hear it and jack up the price

We're still suffering for the effects of Jack Campbell. His cap made it so that we couldn't upgrade at goalie without torpedoing another position and still remains dead cap to this day, while also taking us out of the running on a number of goalies the past few years. Worst free agent in Oilers history and an even worse player. The problem isn’t that they didn’t get a goalie at the deadline, as the options were just about none. It was the failure in the nine months leading up to that point in getting one.
Swayman is not a good goaltender. He was hidden behind a good defense in Boston. This year, hes being exposed. After Boston's decisions at the deadline, they've made it clear they're tearing it down.
I go all-in for Swayman in the off-season. He has no trade protection for the first two years of his contract. His relationship with Sweeney is obviously completely shot and I'm sure both parties would welcome a trade.
These goalies are almost never available. Any doubt of McDavid re-signing gets eliminated with a Swayman acquisition.
YOU SEE, MY WIFE, SHE HAS BEEN MOST VOCAL ON THE SUBJECT OF GOALIES.In the two weeks leading up to this deadline--people kept screaming to get a goalie. No real goalies changed hands at the deadline.
