What does Bowman trade for first?

Kane seems like he wants to stick it to the team and not getting traded is the best way of doing that lol.

It could be Arvidsson or Henrique but I think it’s more likely to be Skinner.
Skinner is out of here in a few months one way or another, I could see him wanting to just stick it out and get that playoff game rather than force a trade to a new situation.

We'll see what happens I guess.

No goalie upgrade = 1st/2nd round exit. That would be inexcusable especially while McDrai and Bouch are still on quality contracts while guys like Ekholm and Hyman are still at an age where they aren't falling off entirely yet.
They're not going far with this terrible current tandem.

That being said, I already expect no goalie upgrade. This management shot themselves in the foot and they have nobody to blame but themselves. So f*** them for mentioning dollar dollar in, etc again like we heard it enough from Holland's 5 year tenure.

In before McCarron and a depth random d as the trades and that's it. Easy F grade for Bowman and Jeff Jackson.
I agree. X2

I really think we are getting a middle six winger. Called it 3 days ago and just hope this person is decent.

With the way this organization has handled it this year with players, I have no hope lol.
They can do whatever the f*** they want, but with our goalies in net, it won't matter if a prime Datsyuk and Lidstrom were here when we have Mr feels good about his game in net as the starter still giving up the weakest goals especially on the lateral side because his fat ass can't move fast enough.

Also middle six player you're referring to makes me think its gonna be Ryan Donato

So JJ signs JSkinner and RV to no movement clauses for umm reasons? And not only is it going to cost the team better young players in Holloway and Broberg but our only physical player in Kane too. What an absolute farce of a manager. This is supposed to be the president of hockey operations? His only experience was supposed to be negotiating contracts. Was he making nice with old colleagues? Then he hides the NMC’s from everyone… What arrogance. Riding Connor’s coat tails into a position he is way over his head in. Just an absolute debacle.

I wonder with Kane if the team is just sick of his camp.

But from Kane's perspective, if he really wants to play then all he has to do is wait another 2 weeks, then go on a 2 week conditioning stint in Bako and voila, its playoff time where he returns to action with the Oilers. Wouldn't that make sense?

Oh great, here comes the annual need moar hits moar grit moar size before trade deadline.

You don't think that needing more physicality and grit would be an important thing for this team to add?

Just wasn't sure if the "moar" mocking was because you think that this isn't relevant at all or not, or if you're just being an asshole.

I mean the team in general could use moee
- speed (tends to be more youth thing)
- size
- intensity
- urgency

But if Rishaug is right and we are bringing in a Forward and Dman, I don’t think a couple players especially cheaper ones are going to change the team much. The team core is pretty much going to be the same because theres so many nmc and players locked in

4/5 top hitting teams in the league are not in a playoff spot. Hitting is not indicative of a good team when it means you have the puck less on your stick. The media's already pushing for another Bjugstad/Carrick 2.0 bottom 6 grit trash slow player that doesn't move the needle for this club. That's the problem.

I doubt he can go to Bako without there being cap implications. 95% of players would just sit out until playoffs.

But if he wants to come back before the season ends, then he puts the Oilers in a tough spot. No point really speculating because we will know by Friday what the plan is.

Could be. You would think the management would have had a chat with him at the start of the season and respected his decisions on his own health. If he said back then that he wants to play as soon as he can come back and doesn’t want to play LTIR games the team should have kept some cap flexibility in place to deal with upgrades at the deadline. And then dealt with Kane in the offseason. Pigeon holing our only chance at serious upgrades on trading Kane in a week, after his NTC changes, is just negligent and poor planning.

I think the team is lacking more in intensity and urgency than hitting and physicality personally. Some of those traits bring intensity though. The team just looks like its going through the motions the majority of the time.

Even in previous years, having a historic deadly PP I think brought a level on intensity and some intimidation.

But ever since the Florida series, the PP is a sad puppy dog.

Not sure but I think he is allowed to go on a 2 week conditioning stint without affecting the cap. Someone on the thread will know the exact answer.

I agree having physicality helps brings up the intensity, but when the media is yapping for a McCarron who's in the mold of a Carrick/Bjugstad, it's just gross. Players like them are more a liability on ice if anything. Frederic would make sense more, but I personally want the goaltending to be shored up as a priority before I look at the bottom 6 potential players. It's easier to find those bottom 6 players anyways.

But yeah, I basically already see it as:
Middle 6 winger: Donato
4C: McCarron type of player (barf)
and a random depth D.

Would be such an underwhelming deadline but expected zzzzz

Pretty obvious at this point that JJ really mismanaged the cap. He spent cap on players he really couldn’t afford like Skinner and Arviddson.

Vegas is basically Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunn handing out IOU slips, because they have virtually no assets to spend. Their business model is catching up to them. Eventually, they were going to run out of assets.
Like we already have?
Our drafting has been shit for years and we lost our top 2 prospects in the summer to offer sheets and traded away the only guy we drafted outside of the first round who actually became a NHL player. I hate to say this but McDavid must be seriously contemplating not resiging with this shitshow.

The statistical count of hits is irrelevant IMO, this is purely an eye test question. "Hits" isn't the same as forecheck pressure, and energy which are obviously size related.

If we're winning the cup we could very well be going through the Kings, Knights, Jets, and Panthers. You think we can compete with any of those teams physically in a playoff series or even come close as we stand today?

I get it - physicality is persona non grata for some because it doesn't show in charts and they think it silly. It matters, and it will if we think we're gonna win shit in the playoffs this year.
