We can agree to disagree on Henrique's value, but I'm not sure why you keep saying the Oilers were the only team to give up a 1st.

Guentzel, Hanafin, and Hertl deals all had 1st changing hands.
I should have clarified, a first rounder in that years draft.
Guentzel was a conditional 1st that never materialized. Hanafin and Hertl were 2025 1st round picks.

You'd think so with how badly he's been buried here, but there are too many question marks on this team this year

Kane publicly at odds with the team, Arvidsson absolutely bombing in Edmonton, Henrique buried in the bottom six like he's a 4th liner undeserving of offensive opportunity, even Mcdavid looks like he doesn't want to be here this last month to trigger a bit of insecurity in some anxious fans.

Team feels like it's coming apart at the seams after a bad month of hockey.
Kane seems like he wants to stick it to the team and not getting traded is the best way of doing that lol.

It could be Arvidsson or Henrique but I think it’s more likely to be Skinner.

If we've been in on Gibson from early in the season you'd think that there must be a rough framework in place to add him. If all else fails we need to upgrade the goaltending, there is no way that no goalie upgrade is acceptable.

So JJ signs JSkinner and RV to no movement clauses for umm reasons? And not only is it going to cost the team better young players in Holloway and Broberg but our only physical player in Kane too. What an absolute farce of a manager. This is supposed to be the president of hockey operations? His only experience was supposed to be negotiating contracts. Was he making nice with old colleagues? Then he hides the NMC’s from everyone… What arrogance. Riding Connor’s coat tails into a position he is way over his head in. Just an absolute debacle.

we apparently only have like 3.8 mill in deadline space because of how Klingbergs contract was done. The moment we go into LtIR his contract value is full. We pretty much HAVE to move money out or in or move Kane.
See it's not totally true because if we add a forward we move say Kapanen to free up a little more space

Kevin Woodley saying that he's never switched teams before or traded before. Seems like an off-season move.

Only way we trade for Rantanen is he's willing to sign 1 year at 9.25M and then 14M x 7 the following year and Bouchard takes 8M x 2 years.

In 2 years, the cap is likely 105M so we can fit Rantanen, McDavid and Bouchard raises quite comfortably

Couple things

1. If Rantanen is moved the Canes will need roster players back. I don't think we fit the bill. A negative is the Canes would move him out west
2. This Kane stuff is getting old. He is traded or out until playoffs. It's obvious.
3. Yes we need a goalie but is there a clear upgrade that even makes sense? I see none. Gibson I don't think is worth the risk/price
4. We need a middle six winger and a 4C badly. We don't even have a 4C now.
5. This sounds bad, but If Skinner plays tomorrow maybe we hope we get lit up.

No goalie upgrade = 1st/2nd round exit. That would be inexcusable especially while McDrai and Bouch are still on quality contracts while guys like Ekholm and Hyman are still at an age where they aren't falling off entirely yet.
They're not going far with this terrible current tandem.

That being said, I already expect no goalie upgrade. This management shot themselves in the foot and they have nobody to blame but themselves. So f*** them for mentioning dollar dollar in, etc again like we heard it enough from Holland's 5 year tenure.

In before McCarron and a depth random d as the trades and that's it. Easy F grade for Bowman and Jeff Jackson.
