Bouchard has been helping us with that. Take how you will.Yeah but Draisaitl goes to 14 and who knows what Bouchard will make

We can agree to disagree on Henrique's value, but I'm not sure why you keep saying the Oilers were the only team to give up a 1st.No, not in hindsight- at the time it was an overpay. Better players moved and the Oilers were the only team to give up a 1st
That system has not been performing up to par recently. And it's noticeable that the Oilers have trouble scoring at 5v5 this season. The goalie isn't helping that if it's your only move.
Newsflash. This team isn't as deep as last season's. And McDavid looks mortal. You need to find ways to get him help.
The team had impressive depth last season. Their PK firing at otherworldly effectiveness and a quasi-fourth line that scored on the regular was a very large reason why we went to four rounds and seven games. This team has never been deep. If anything the deepest forward group was actually the 22-23 team with Woodcroft that had like the most double digit scorers (Kostin and Bjugstad added in). The whole bruhaha over getting Skinner and Arvidsson was that it might be deep now, but that obviously has been a bust thus far.
They got some fortunate breaks in the run last year, as much as it is funny to see the Canucks dismantle themselves, we would have lost in round 2 last year if Demko was in at even .905 that series versus Silovs' .889 or whatever it was. That was a huge break for us.

It's depth that we've never seen in the cap era here and it's depth we do not have currently with so many underperforming players. We need a catalyst.
I was told that the lack of movement all year was for us to accrue cap space. What happened to that?
I agree that the PK won't repeat. But the 5v5 issue will kill that roster where it stands, goalie or no goalie. That same PK won't exist this playoffs run. The PK from last year went on a historic run.
A catalyst = a goalie IMO. Another top four d man would be so good to have, but not even that would save us from goals against with our poor goaltenders.

Is it possible that Bouchard bets on himself and takes a 1 year deal for say $7 million? That would buy us time to clear some contracts for long term extensions for him and McDavid.
If it’s that simple can’t they just waive them and send them down? They made moves.
Spent the space on John Klingberg and Kasperi Kapanen.
That would seem kind of weird. Arvidsson's been a mainstay in the top six all year, I'm not sure what he would be complaining about (unless he didn't consider how much he'd hate receiving zero PP time before signing here).I'm pretty sure the guy who's requested a trade is Arvidsson
Which would be hilarious considering he was put in a position to succeed since he was stapled to Drai.I'm pretty sure the guy who's requested a trade is Arvidsson

I agree Gibson would be an Ekholm type trade but for goalie. He would be the best goalie we had in forever and help stabilize the team for many years. I wish he didn't cost a 1st thoRelative to some other Cup winners, they really didn't have great depth even last year. As people have pointed out Foegele and McLeod had mediocre playoffs and their regular season production largely came from a boost from playing with Draisaitl on the 2nd line, not from 3rd line production on its own. From the 3rd line their production was quite often mediocre.
Brown was terrible in the regular season and didn't score much in the playoffs either. PK is a lightning in a bottle thing due likely largely to system's play more than anything, other teams have scouted it now and are picking it apart.
We need a Ekholm or Hyman type add to jolt the team, little role players isn't going to do it.
At this juncture the only type of player I see that can do that and we could possibly acquire is from the goaltending position, which is by a country mile the weakest part of the team. A Gibson if he plays well here would be like adding an Ekholm or Hyman. When he is allowed to be on his game (meaning behind a non-Eakins shit tier defensive system) he has shown he can be a top 10 goalie.
