They don’t even have 2 reliable lines right now, they’re not going to become some deep forward group over one trade deadline. Goaltending is something the can be significantly upgraded right now.

Yep, this team is built nothing like the monster Avs that won the cup.
Even with a new top four d man, Skinner and Pickard simply aren't reliable enough.

I like how Gregor writes off Jeff Skinner, ignoring his recent play, just says “it’s not gonna work”. Yet he’ll defend the other Skinner to the death. f***ing clown man

LT brings up goaltending “who’s out there?”. We know who’s out there, you know who’s out there. Then he claims it’s just a recent stretch for Gibson. It’s his whole season dude, you can judge a player based on that, looking back years to judge a guy is just stupid, it’s not 2022 or whatever it’s 2025 and Gibson is hands down superior to what we have.

Goofball dipshit

So we should just run it and put a different goalie in net? Woof.

I'm not even saying don't go get another goalie.

Given the system Knob plays (defensively tight in a 7 game series) a better goalie plays better to that system, similar to Roloson on that 2006 team.

Having tons of depth up and down the lineup is coming from where? Which scouting department? The same people who let Holloway walk and thought this group would be deep? That's something you have because of years of good scouting, management, trades, and drafting, one trade deadline isn't going to fix that for the Oilers.

The other problem with any kind of significant overhaul of the forward group now is they won't have much time to gel as a group, a goalie is just one player.

Next season Jeff Skinner is off the books, so are Klingberg, Brown, Perry, Kapanen and Neal's $1.916 million buyout comes off the books and we could trade Kane if need be.

Watch Neal's buy out go straight back into buying out Arvidsson, lol. Campbell's buy out penalty also increases to 2.3 million (and then 2.6 mill the year after). Yippie!

I'm not sure what contending team is taking on Kane at this stage. Feels like most teams would try to spend that 5 million elsewhere first.

That system has not been performing up to par recently. And it's noticeable that the Oilers have trouble scoring at 5v5 this season. The goalie isn't helping that if it's your only move.

Newsflash. This team isn't as deep as last season's. And McDavid looks mortal. You need to find ways to get him help.

There has to be a reason why almost every acquisition sees their production nosedive when they put on an Oilers jersey.
Take a look at TOI for all of these players on the Oilers and on the other teams

There’s only so much offensive time on ice to go around. The Oilers run essentially one PP unit and double shift the hell out of McDavid/Draisaitl.

To be fair, the Oilers as a whole are still a better offensive team than any of the teams our former players went to. So while it’s bad for individual production it’s not necessarily bad for overall team success.

we apparently only have like 3.8 mill in deadline space because of how Klingbergs contract was done. The moment we go into LtIR his contract value is full. We pretty much HAVE to move money out or in or move Kane.
Yeah I’m dumb, I still don’t understand lol.

What's the point, brother.
We're already gonna be let down once again when we see the team trade for a depth d and bottom 6 grit trash while other team make big moves zzzzzzz
Yeah but at least we can skip all these rumors. It's really not looking good for the Oilers. I hope Kane is really happy with himself.
