He probably costs around the same as Skinner did last season. Maybe a bit more considering he'll have quite a few suitors. But his shot rate crept back up to 15% this season. I think he's a lock for 20 goals in a top six role. Compliments skill well and also has a history of being a reliable PKer. Loved his game in junior.

I just don’t really see the point of doing much with the defense.

I think moving Kulak is likely a mistake. Granted I don’t think any of the four LD can play the right side well. I still think Walman can play good enough RD for the regular season.

Exception would be if we could move Nurse. But its so unlikely its not really worth discussing.

I guess they could move Ekholm. Did he have a one off with injuries/age or is a trend? Its likely a trend if we’re being honest. But hes still a good dman. And he might willing to take a paycut. And we probably still need him.

Might be best to go with the dcore and reassess at the deadline.

JGPageau - instantly fix 3C (right handed) and PK issues . We were already in on him at deadline.

Saros- miles better fit than Swayman/Gibson

Letang or retained EK to shore up the right side.

In the last 2 seasons Pageau's PK numbers have been extremely weak, a solid track record before that, but he might not be the PK quick fix you envision.

I’m in a small minority who likes Merzlikins. He definitely needs that change of scenery. Columbus is floundering and having his buddy pass away basically in his arms from that freak fireworks accident, I’m sure he’d welcome it. He’s been a decent goalie on a pretty bad team, so no shit his stats are going to look terrible (this is the first time in several seasons they finished higher than 6th in their division in several seasons).

He’s not my first target though…I’m going swinging for the fences first. Bowman annoyed Grier for long enough that Grier finally told him he could have Walman if he’d leave him the hell alone after.
