Which Bottom 6 Forwards Do You Keep?

That’s been my gut feeling. Anaheim wants vets, they’re trying to take a step. Henrique is buddies with those guys and maybe still owns his house down there. Easiest transition from one team to another for him.

They also offered him 6mAAV/4years last off-season.

The organization loves him from top to bottom. And his wife is from Anaheim.

I agree. I think he could be a decent winger. I think he could also be a center with some quicker wingers. I am good with moving on from him with a younger body but I think need to have a plan in place to replace him. I don’t think he’s quite the same as Arviddson.

Yeah, I’ve never quite understood this teams insistence on running Henrique as a 3C. Dude spent his entire career as a top 6 C/W and gets to Edmonton and then we basically sentence him to a Boyd Gordon role. He’s always been miscast in that role imo.

If Henrique is your 2C, your team isn't winning the cup either. He re-signed knowing his role would be on the bottom 6.

Like I say I would have rotated Henrique in different places and even with Drai. Henrique can shoot, one time, make some plays. We're putting him in spots where his talent isn't featured and using him as a role player almost exclusively. Agree with others that payscale is steep in respect of usage but it never needed to land there. Player is a much more accomplished goal scorer than ANYBODY that spent considerable time with Drai this season.

Really it disgusts me we're paying 4MX2 for Arvid AND he got the plum assignments.

The Ducks have some names that could make them a fit for a blockbuster if we wanted to go that way. Troy Terry is rumoured to be on the block, he fills one of the holes. Gibson fills another hole.

Just a question of what the hell we have to send the other way.

As a Winger he's more than fine in topsix at this age.

lol how would a player with 300NHL goals know his role was going to be strictly bottomsix. jfc

This is a player that notched 24 goals 51pts just a year ago. We have like two or three players this season that had better production but somehow glueing Henrique in Bottomsix.

He's a very strong net front finisher too. Similar to Monahan in that sense.

He just hasn't played a lot with anyone that can get him the puck there.

As a winger, he did almost nothing on the Oilers when given the chance. Henrique played 900 NHL games. He should know how to adjust. How do you think Corey Perry adjusted? The guy went from top 6 in Anaheim to bottom 6 in Dallas, Montreal, Oilers, Tampa. Also Henrique started in the NHL in the bottom 6 and climb his way to top 6 in Jersey

I don’t think we should play him at 2C. But he’s been a pretty consistent 20+ goal guy in his career. No reason he couldn’t do that on McDavid or Draisaitls wing.

Put Nuge at 3C. Probably helps the 3rd line generate some more offense. Nuge still gets his top PP time which is his bread and butter anyway. And you use Henrique to his strengths. It’s just weird we’ve almost never tried it.

Problem is he gets garbage PP time in Edmonton, so unless he's willing to be a net front presence or knocks out Nuge of the 1st PP he wouldn't be that 20+ goal scorer in Edmonton.

Who else could play 3C once they traded McLeod? It was just him or RNH, and RNH was shackled to McDavid this year for whatever reason.

At least going into next season they should have Frederic can play centre; Philp with a year of pro hockey back under his belt, and I wouldn't be surprised if they targetted a depth depensive centre for the PB in free agency. (Lazar please).

lol. We're talking about a topsix player here that is uber talented, strong on puck, that can get into areas and has a very good one time shot. We hardly used him in topsix even though he's a f***ing bull. We had Arvid falling down on the ice all season instead parked with Drai.

It has nothing to do with Henrique not adopting to role, he did whatever the team asked of him. It has to do with how entirely he was miss used this season and playoffs.

I mean he didn’t produce all that worse last year.
In a top 6 role the previous 2 seasons he scored 15 goals 5v5, last year 9.

Henrique was never uber talented in any league he's played in.

I agree with some posters that we should play him to his strength. He has a good shot and we need someone to find him. We still got time to do it. Between Arvid and Henrique, Henrique is the one worth keeping. He's slow tho. Lost a ton of speed after hitting 30.

I said this the moment we traded for him, that we are trading a 1st for a 3C. It was an overpayment then and an overpayment now.

The issue with Henrique is his foot speed. In a top 6 role he will run into a ton of issues

We have spent a 1st and a 2nd on 2 3rd liners the last 2 offseasons. Spending a lot for not a lot.

I mean this partially goes back to not having a GM during the most important time of the year.

Bowman really had no choice in the matter with a lot of things by the time he came on board. Should've left the McLeod trade until after a new GM was hired. I'm sure Buffalo could've wait a bit longer and I'm sure Jackson could've brought in Bowman a bit sooner as well to figure this kind of stuff out.

Just give it up. lol. Henrique would be among the topsix skilled forwards on this team and roster, easily. I would go further and say even at age. Again the guy scored 24G 51pts just last season. Let us know what cave you've been sleeping in and where we can get the free rent. ;)

I'd have RNH-Rico as a tandem, Mcdavid-Hyman and Draisaitl-Podz. During the season try to load manage and give the top 3 lines equal minutes.

If you are going to do that then we need to find a legit top 6 winger to put in that top 6. The issue with Drai and Podz is, and as much as Podz can be good he doesn’t produce remotely good enough.

Henrique in the top 6 easy? Then why hasn't he feasted on bottom 6 players? I mean a 0.7PPG top 6 player in Anaheim coming to Edmonton playing the easiest minutes should be scoring left and right. Yet his line was the worst in the playoffs.
