I can name a ton of smaller players that have had success. At the end of the day and good hockey player is a good hockey player. You’re do down on every single player and move it’s like talking to eyore. You’re the ultimate “identify the problem, never suggest a solution” type person.
I’ve identified a few.
Savoie could be a good player, he isn’t yet. He isn’t NHL ready, and probably won’t be for at least another year.
This team needs 2 top 6 wingers and a goalie. Savoie is not a top 6 winger but could get us one.
And I’m not down on every player. Bouchard is great and should get what he deserves. Podkolzin is a gamer and is just finding his place. For example. I just think with us being in our window we can’t be waiting around for a small forward to learn how to handle NHL side and speed, especially one that is still a year away minimum.
Now we shouldn’t just trade him just cause but if he has a good value in the league and it gets us a top 6 wingers FINALLY for Drai, that’s something you do in a heartbeat.

OilersNation suggesting Demko is the way to go. Only one year left. Oilers with a healthy Demko would be the best team in the league
Demko will never be healthy again though.
Last year in the games he played he had a 0.889 and almost 3GAA.
It was also said a few times Demkos injury is something that will never fully heal, and something you can’t surgery away and he is just going to have to deal with
With Demko you might have an elite goalie for half a season, but then you go thru the playoffs with whoever your backup is.
Demko literally can’t handle guys in his crease in the playoffs.
We make it to the cup final against Florida we lose cause Bennett will sneeze on him in the crease and he dies.

Edit: The Oilers nation guys also think Skinner is a great goalie at worst.

1. He’s hurt too much

2. Vancouver aint trading him to us (especially in the offseason. Maybe theres a chance at the trade deadline if Vancouver is out of it)

3. He’s probably expensive even though hes not reliable because he hasn’t been on the trade market long enough

Brad Marchand says hi
A critical point about Marchand vs say Yamamoto is where they were drafted and the associated risk involved. Marchand at Round 3 71st overall with a great junior pedigree including Memorial Cup championship and strong playoff production numbers is a good bet on undersized skill. Yamamoto with the heart of a lion drafted first round as a 5'7" 160 pound hard-ice game, winger projecting to NHL success is fraught with risk peril.

Back to @Drivesaitl complaining about Brown again. Must be a long off-season
Been raining and odd weather in Edmonton here so I feel a little shut in. haha.

Oh I'm cozy and chilly Toronto. Take that while you're melting in 40C and high humidity. You can take Connor too......The Brown one.

I'll take this weather anytime. Usually sweltering by now with our longest days of the year occurring.

This is cringe post.

Condemning someone before even knowing their guilt....meanwhile absolving someone like Kane by blaming it all on the ex.

I have no probs having Kane on the roster but the guy gambled and cheated all his money away while he had a family to support.

Talk about some backwards logic you got
It's cringe because I realize Kane and Perry had addiction issues? I'm not blaming his ex at all for his gambling addiction. It's tragic he got help and he's now better for it. I'd say Kane is one of the best guys in the Edmonton community.

I'm saying his crazy ex wife is making up obscene stories.

As for carter hart what is confirmed is the kind of person he is. Has nothing to do with being guilty or not. If 5 guys go to some 3rd world country and buy some 18 year old prostitute and it's "technically legal" there doesn't mean that they are not disgusting people.

That's exaclty how this trial is playing out.

Lol my backwards logic? Carter Hart is the good guy and evander Kane is the bad guy because he had an addiction and married a bat crazy woman who lost custody of her child.

Wonder the cost on Silvos…. Who is most likely to be moved from the Canucks 3 goalies? Probably Demko, but that injury could affect his career

If the Nucks were not a hated rival and/or in the East then they would 1000% be an ideal trade partner. Even then they might still consider flipping us Silovs, but I can’t see him coming cheap.

Brent I think the makeup is not soft on the sides. If you think about it, our wings are primarily crashers and bangers (Arvidsson, Hyman, Kane). We don't have skill on the wings other than RNH and Savoie. So, I think having a Savoie on the wing is good.

Have both top 2 lines with one powerfoward, one top centre, one skilled winger
Tony, I don’t disagree to a point. RV, Kane are on the way out of town I believe so what then?

I agree with you a lot but not on this one. Kane and Perry did what they did as mature adults. Fully developed minds. With Kane I've believed him over any of the ex wife stuff. But Kane has his own issues like gambling, limited self control at times. Perry we don't know all that went on but sounded pretty creepy, as an adult.

The JR hockey players at that age do not have fully developed minds, evaluation or self control. They made decisions no worse than what you would encounter almost any frat house on any campus doing. The reason they are involved in litigation is they were famous and potentially worth money. The victim has been inconsistent, contradicting in testimony and yet another assaulted saying that in her own mind she was saying no, while actions were saying yes. But its a female judge and so who knows what ultimately the decision will be. If Charged I could certainly see it being appealed.

I think you're a bit older like myself. NO way I would do the things that young people generally do today and hooking up with randoms but fact of the matter is young people hook up like not seen since the 60's and often or almost always under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Legally speaking not one of those soirees is deemed consent because people are judged not to be able to give consent under the influence and its the way courts, precedents, and legislations see's it. So vast majority of young people have done things that could also be considered sexual assault, and could be charged. Just saying.

A whole rethink on behaviors probably needs to occur but that ain't happening. As hockey players or athletes those males were doing essentially what our garbage society socializes jocks to do. They just got somebody that wanted to take it to court.

I agree entirely with you on the third world thing, truly I do, I find such things revolting but also aware of so many men that think nothing of that kind of thing, and those are adults, fathers of daughters, mature men. WE live in corrupted society. Mores and values are largely gone now.

Not absolving the players, not victim blaming, but theres lots to consider and unpack.

I mean the problem with that is he isn’t NHL ready. He got his games this year and looked decent in the first game and completely overwhelmed in the rest. Bringing him up could also reduce his value if he isn’t ready. Which he isn’t.
I guess time will tell, I’m not saying gift him a spot, he’ll have to earn it.

I do think some advanced stats are important like expected goals for and against. But I think you’re also right about actual stats. This team just has too many guys who can’t finish. Having a couple is ok but I think the team has too many of them in general.

I don’t think Brown is as bad as you make him but I still don’t think you can overpay him. But its gets compounded with Janmark, Henrique, Arviddson, Podkolzin, etc. At least with Podkolzin hes physical and works hard. Henrique is pretty smart and pretty good defensively. But I think they need to move on from Janmark personally. I used to really like him but his defensive game has been fading for awhile and hes an offensive black hole. Obviously bottom 6 players are bottom 6 for a reason. They aren’t going to light the world on fire offensively. I’d still like guys who check a few boxes rather than guys who are average at things but don’t have any real strengths. Having one or two is fine.
I can spot the statistical fallacy in the arguments on PDO "everything evens out" as if all chances are equal irrespective of scoring difficulty or ability. I'm supposed to believe Brown was just unlucky the season he only scored 4 goals. "Really he's gonna score 20 next year, just watch" people here told me.

Meanwhile I was saying its much more likely that Foegele showing much more game would outscore Brown anytime, would outscore Arvid anytime going forward. I actually said all that a year ago. It was even going out on a limb. it was clear as day this would occur with players that are either rising or falling stock.

Brown as the playoffs went on became less and less effective. He's a guy that can bring it for two week spells. he's done at that point. But his butter soft play all year and in playoffs, its inexcusable. People said McLeod is soft. Well McLeod brings several other elements and is a miles better player than Brown currently,, faster than Brown, produces way more than Brown, younger than Brown..We moved from one and not the other. But nearly the whole board were calling McLeod "nothing and soft" and yet somehow support the play of Brown.

If I were Bowman I would call up Buffalo to see if we can acquire Peterka and UPL.

In terms of free agents, I would try to acquire younger players in their 20’s such as Mangiapane and Roslovic. This would potentially go a long way in terms of extending our window to compete

There are many players who beat the odds, but players under 6 and 170 lb are incredibly risky amateurs.

Yammo was a 1st rounder. We drafted him because he went to the hard areas... and that ended his career.

Savoie has shown incredible worth ethic, IQ and skill, and a legal hit could give him a concussion.

I'm like a minute in to this video and all I can say is what the f***. Too bad he's injured 50% of the time and I can see why.

An equally big issue to Demko being perpetually injured is he was dog shit this past season.

Wasn’t the concern with him that whatever knee injury he had has forced him to change his stance and is permanent?

Beyond that, I can’t see the Canucks wanting to put the Oilers over the top by trading us Demko even if he was likely to rebound.
