Bob McKenzie vibes-lol. Ducks fans would blow every gasket located on the magic teacups or whatever that ride is called at Disneyland if this wound up being the trade.
1st + pickard or arvidsson + pickard for gibson @ 50% would be the deals I would table. They may find someone willing to be a third party to get it down to 1.6 for a 3rd.

Anaheim by the sounds of it and looks of it isnt planning to be crap next year lol They have dostal and likely want to allocate some of Gibson's 6.4 cap hit to other parts of the roster. The thing is gibson has nmc - he could easily list the oilers and then contending teams with starters locked up long term lmfao So the ducks decide do they want that extra 3.2 from the goalie for other parts of the roster or not?

Your posting is style is very familiar. Accuse people of being related to a player or their neighbour…. Hmmm. Where have we seen this before
I am sure that is an original thought to say to someone with rose colored glasses, or at least the opinion the other person is biased.

Ah so you want to compare 26 year old, 7 years of professional experience Yamo to a raw 21 year old rookie. Gotcha. Ridiculous premise but gotcha.
I want to see what two players playing against the same competition do.

If Savoie is expected to play in the NHL is he going to suddenly age 8 years over the summer and be an older player?

On DFO Rundown... Am I drunk or did Jason Gregor say he’d take Anton Forsberg over Jordan Binnington if he’s available.. and I don’t know what Jason Gregor is smoking these days… He thinks Stuart Skinner had a better season than last year..

He thinks Anton Forsberg is good way to complement Skinner. LOLOL

Is Roby Jarventie still injured?

Is Jacob Perreault a bust?

Both were pretty good prospects at their draft.

Didn't we sign some other up and coming Euro players?

How about Quinn Hudson?

Would be nice if one of our young guys stepped up.

I think RV is unlikely.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Anaheim take Rico though, tbh. It's a fit - he likes them, they like him.

If they strike out on Marner and Boeser, RV could be a decent fit for them.

Rico could likely work too, I don't see the Oil doing that. Even if he is a quite vanilla, they don't have another answer for 3C, and I doubt you find an upgrade on the market at 3mil.

Plus with how the bottom 6 is looking, Henrique's in line to be doing some heavy lifting holding together a cheap supporting cast.

Prospects typically get overhyped. I myself don't see prime Savoie being much more than Nyquist's peek production.

He does not move the needle

Jason Gregor's self-satisfied position on Skinner has been the chef's kiss of the many stupid as hell takes on him.

Yup. Basically this, in the entire discussion on this player in this thread. of course it’s been obfuscated by posters moving goal posts based on weight, age and whatever else they dream up.

Bottom line, Savoie ain’t gonna do it. If that’s the idea to move the Oilers forward for next season, yikes.

All those are positive value assets lol someone can buy arvidsson with the plan to flip him at the deadline for a 1st+.
Nah. Ceci, a rhd with playoff experience was basically a throw in, depending how you value the 3rd compared to emberson.

Puny arvidsson who couldn't produce with Draisaitl and costs more, will be at best the same. The acquiring team may be able to flip him, but they won't pay us for the opportunity to.

You have your opinion i have mine. What about the playoffs? Regardless, if you think skinner is better than arvi you are not someone whose opinion about hockey i value highly. Also, that works out to like 6 minutes a game with one of those two. If you think he gets say 15 when he plays with them, it is like 20 games he got to play with one of them and then spot duty here and there with most of that probably being line changes and icings and extra man on a delayed penalty etc. He absolutely did not get a fair shake and when they signed him, it was to be a top six guy 90% of the time. Maybe no powerplay but 5v5 with one of mcdrai 90% of the time.
Your ability to do math is astonishing. 53% of his total 5v5 icetime is with McDrai. How does that only equal only like 20 games and spot duty? He also spent a ton of time with Nuge on the second line too.

Arvidsson did okay 90% of his ice time with Draisaitl for the first chunk of the season and he didn’t bring much. But you said you only watched like 20 games do you probably missed all or those.

Arvidsson got kicked in Drai minutes and they had almost no chemistry. It didn’t work great. He was putting up 3rd line offence while playing with Draisaitl which is, bad.

Arvidsson didn’t get top 6 time in the playoffs because he spent all season showing how little he worked with the top guys.
Yet you think he should gent just been stapled too them cause you are some hockey genius.

If you actually payed attention to the team for more than 20 games you would actually see what everyone else saw. He got a chance, couldn’t hack it, and was rightfully demoted.

I think you trade Rico and go all in on Pageau.

Hopefully you can get Pageau to sign at a discount because he wants to bring a cup to Canada.

 I mean it's like he's a random 8th round pick who had one good year in the A, for f*** sakes guys.

McDrai drive the bus, Savoie doesn't have to save the team.

This is the shit that I've been talking about, the Oilers aren't a decade of darkness team being carried by McDrai.

Yes that might work. And if the Ducks are willing to retain some salary on Gibson's deal then that's a few bucks extra cap space that can be spent on free agents like Brown, Kapanen etc.

I really think a new address for Stu is best for all concerned.

So you would end up with Gibson backed up by Captain Pickard and then maybe you see what you have left after all the deals and look at a 3rd goalie that is affordable.

I think a new address for Kane and Arvi is also best for all parties concerned so that certainly opens the cap space door for a move on a veteran forward ---but not necessarily a top 6 guy.

Bottom line is that the Oilers have to shake things up without damaging the core but the status quo doesn't work for most fans/posters.

He likely will be on the roster for the start of the year and get looks throughout. The ability to accrue cap space is huge. If the oilers set up to have say 2 million of cap from day one not really used by the deadline, they get like what 8 for it? (do not quote me lol but isnt it that they have 2 million in cap but that is 2 million dollars unpaid 75% of the way through the year if they let it sit like that from game 1 to deadline so isnt it worth 8 million in cap hit, aka 2 million dollars in cash paid?) If i am wrong on that, someone please correct lol But isnt it on day one the cap is effectively 94 million but by the deadline 70.5 has been paid out roughly. So the cap is 23.5 for cash left to pay (according to formula for cap hit in relation to games played, i know signing bonus and year to year cash payout varies)? So then if you had 90 million day one and kept it at 90 million til the deadline, it would be ~67.5 paid out and you have room left to pay 26.5? Which when reversed the same way, your cap would be 106 million? Aka the salary cap is less to do with cap hit and more to do with salary paid as a season progresses?

Once again, mods please tell me if this is totally off base

Jimmi, not sure if your referring to me, but I never said he has to save the team.

The discussion has been about changing the make up of forwards to move the team forward. I don’t beleive Matt Savoie is ever going to do that.
