Sam Oreilly as a 19 yo never playing a game of pro doesn’t seem like the type of move that puts the team over the top.

Savoie? Meh. Basically Kailer Yamamoto without NHL experience.
O'Reilly plays a mature game. I could see him starting in the OHL and then playing in the NHL mid season. Florida has a similar player to him and that's Anton Lundell. He's been anchoring the 3C for 4 years now. Played in the NHL after D+1

I don't accept Bowman's proclamation that the defense is good to go. The D corps needs significant upgrades. Kulak fans be all up in a tizzy. He shit the bed in the finals for a second straight year. Goodbye Kulak.

Ekholm, my favorite D on the Oil is old and coming off serious core and groin issue. He might be relugated to driving the second or even third pairing if the Oil want to get back to the finals.

I wish Chiarelli did that. Those first 5 years of his career probably would have went much better.

Your forgetting McDavid was a big fan of Lucic and that was probably a major driving factor of Chiarelli signing him in the first place.

I always felt that for an organization to achieve maximum success hire the best people for the job (that is a whole other conversation with the Oilers LOL) and then let them do their job. Running a team or a business is not a democratic enterprise.

You risk burdening your superstar with added failure (well we did what you wanted Conner and it didnt work) or frustrating your superstar by not executing on what he thinks you should do when you asked his opinion of the matter (Stan keeps asking my opinion on things but never does what I recommend).

Asking for opinions of McDavid all the time on seemingly everything has a risk, albeit small, as well as an upside. My opinion is McDavid should just worry about what he can control.

Kulak is a great LS d man. He can’t play RS to save his life. For this reason and this reason only he needs to be dealt for a RS d man. The other 2 are better and Nurse is not being moved

Let's be real.

Chiarelli definitely didn't need any encouragement from anybody to sign Milan Lucic.

McD being a fan was just some interview IIRC.
Chia was going after Lucic regardless because he wanted to. Has nothing to do with a 19 year old McD

McDavid was not happy that the offersheets were signed while many others took discounts to stay.
I have read nothing that states he wanted them matched. I dont think he cared much for Broberg anyway.
Yeah I think it’s more about Holloway as well.

You guys are overthinking the Gibson stuff. He would be an Oiler if the Oilers had wanted him. It was pretty widely reported that they did not view him as an upgrade on Skinner.

Perhaps their attitude has changed since the last trade deadline.
I do seem to recall someone quoting analytics that indicated Gibson struggles with the same thing Skinner struggles with but I can’t remember who posted that.

Actually Gibson didnt want to share the net with Skinner. Maybe his attitude has changed especially since Anaheim is going on a Full court sale

No, Kulak isn't a great defenseman. He's a third pairing defenseman on a club that expects to contend.

I hope he is delt for the straightforward reason that he is extraordinarily overated when he is accurately a league average defender at best.
