I'm kind of hoping that Corey Perry thinks long and hard about hanging them up this summer. He was a big part of this run, but preferably the guy in his role has more speed to burn. Had Hyman not gotten hurt, I'm not sure Perry makes the impact that he did.

This is as "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" as can be haha.

Everyone is great unless you have someone better. Problem is, better is either a bag of magical beans or comes at a higher cost due to knowing.

For what Perry brought all year AND the playoffs, I would definitely welcome him back at a similar AAV

I'd think a Podz-x-Kap line with a good defensive minded center with a bit of speed that's heavy on the forecheck would be a line worth exploring. Kap and Podz were unreal on the forecheck throughout the playoffs and created a ton of havoc for the other teams back end. Hell even in the finals they were decently good as well. They'd be a big fast physical line that would be good at making any teams back end hear some footsteps when going to pick up the puck in their own zone and that's what we need more of imo

The same 2-3 posters that get banned / universally ignored creating a new account once a month is a little tiresome, maybe that’s just me.
Its not just you. I guess its tough to ban these turkeys because they all have 10+ handles. When one handle is banned they just reactivate another but the language is always the same. Comical how they think that nobody on the threads can recognize who they are.

Then convince perry to play 30 games for 800k lol

Also, if you give anyone that rumored brown deal, it is kap.

Same, except I thought this was it for Perry. Isn't he retiring?

No to Connor Brown. no, no, no Please retire Janmark and Ryan.
Probably time to move on from Janmark but same old problem. 2 years left on his deal. How many other GMs are going to be takers?

I don't mind Connor Brown coming back but not on a 4 year deal. So many of these Oiler deals are too long for bottom 6 guys.

I'll agree that 4 years a little too long for Brown but he's so damn good at stripping pucks from players. I'd be ok with 2 years for cheap but I doubt he signs for cheap. I'd honestly hate to lose Brown cuz he actually has a pretty unique skillset but not for 4 years and not for the money he's probably asking for

It would be ideal to have janmark at 650k as a deadline pickup, but you cant do that with every position and he is definitely a top 10's team everyday 4th line winger, imo.

I think we see one of Podz or Fredric in the top six with RNH and Hyman. Rico and Jamark are bottom six lock so technically we need a 4C and 2 bottom six RWs. Kane and Arvidsson pretty much guaranteed to be gone to make room for Draisaitl and Bouchards extensions plus to fill the extra holes.

Bowman said there will be changes at forward but if he’s looking at bringing back Perry, Fredric and Brown then I don’t see what space we have for anyone else.

Furthermore if we are giving Frederic, Brown and Perry contracts with raises, I don’t see how we can afford different goaltending.

Will see what Bowman does.

I have no problem with signing Perry and Brown. It's hard to find guys who can put up 30+ points. Brown is a great penalty killer and Perry is a nice option to have on the powerplay. I think both guys take a discount to stay here. My guess is 1M for Perry and 2.25M for Brown.

Janmark and Podkolzin are also good bottom 6 players. Janmark can PK and play center. He's also signed for a while. Podkolzin is our best physical player on a great cap hit.

Freddy is basically locked in already and Kapanen would be a great 13th forward at around 1M.

Arvidsson isn't a bottom 6 player so hes likely gone. Henrique might be gone with Freddy playing center but it doesnt hurt to keep him. Just a bit of waste cap space.

If you think Connor Brown is gonna take 1mil you’re gonna be wildly disappointed.
Yeah you can’t blame him for chasing whatever he can get - and in this offseason some deals that seem preposterous in the old world are getting signed. If he wants to stay here on more than a 2 year deal he’s going to have to take a discount for it to make any sense for the Oil.

If we run it back with both Janmark and Brown as keys to our penalty kill we are in trouble. Neither was nearly as effective this year and it’s hard to imagine that turning around. Agree with everything else you said. 🙂

I feel like Brown's PK ability is pretty overrated. Going by OIGA/60, he has the worst numbers for pk fwds from this year at 9.3. For perspective, Henrique is 6.5, Mcleod last year was 4.5 and Foegele 6.2. Kapanen was 2.7.

I feel like he skates around a lot doing his puckhounding, which can look nice, but idk how effective he is at actually killing the penalty when that fails.

I'm a big Brown fan, but I don't wanna see him back at 2.5. We just don't have the room. I'd give him whatever term if we could get the hit ~1.5 though.

I'd rather 8 years 1.5 myself

I feel like a player who starts off in their zone against a fresh pp1 most of the time is going to have worse numbers than a guy coming off the bench.

Browns a good PKer but what is he supposed to do when we can’t get a save and the defence constantly leaves a dude wide open beside the net / in the slot.
