The condition on the 1st is a big deal. They are likely “trading back” from a pick in the 10-15 range to a pick in the 25-30 range now
Carolina isn’t a guarantee to be that good this year. They lost Hamilton.

Dvorak is the better player and the cap implications are way better.

But it's gonna hurt if Kotkaniemi pulls a Sam Bennett in Carolina with Aho.

So the Habs lose their 2nd line C and trade for a replacement within the hour. Three off seasons and counting waiting for Holland to find a real starting goalie...

Montreal was 14th worst last year, and their summer was lateral at best. Even if Carolina regresses a bit, Montreal is definitely moving back like 10 picks
I think you're underestimating how bad Andersen/Raanta might be.

Carolina didn’t just lose Hamilton
Nedjelkovic> Anderson/Raanta at their prices, considering Raanta won’t make 10 games healthy

Hamilton/Bean>Deangelo/Bear

Foegele>Leivo

The KK at 6M, with a career high 35 points.

That team is substantially worse. Too bad for a team that showed lots of promise, and essentially, IMO, just had to stay the course to be a contender.

KK has 28 points in 2 years combined. I'm not sure why so many are lauding this move for Carolina.

The habs lost a 3c and replaced him with another 3c who will have to be their 2c.

I don't know if I would be praising Montreal.

Dvorak to MTL is done…

which comes as a surprise to absolutely no one

I hate when teams report like this .. tell us what specific picks they are FFS.

I'm pretty sure it's a strategic PR move to not reveal the value of the picks so that the replies aren't full of complaining.

It's the better of MTL's two 1st rounders in 2022 and a 2024 2nd for those who were wondering.

Montreal has sh**t the bad smelling like stink. They reached for Kotkaniemi at #3 instead of B.Tkachuk and now all they have for him is Christian Dvorak
Interesting how you accomplished that feat of mental gymnastics. Why not take it a step further back? If Montreal hadn't tanked and finished where Carolina did during the 2017-18 season, they wouldn't have won the third lottery spot, they would have won the second lottery spot, then they wouldn't have reached for Kotkaniemi and drafted Svechnikov instead. You follow me?

I personally think that Foegele is his current replacement and that the likes of Lavoie and Bourgault are his eventual replacements. That said, if we trade him, it needs to be for something of need and not just for the sake of it.

If Yams re-signs with the Oilers then his expectations will have to be fairly modest. I think the Oilers are already looking ahead to 2022-23 which will be a very tight cap situation-- given the raise that Nurse got and also with Puls looking for a new contract. I love Yam's work ethic and skating ability but with the actual goal production we saw last year its going to be a tough decision for both parties.
