Leafs also didn't give up anything for Tavares@belair
John Tavares is 29 right now, don't think the Leafs would re-do that one.
Hall will be a good player for a long time with his skating ability.
I've already mentioned the Leafs being a terrible example when speaking of cap commitments. Their defense will be a victim in short order due to their frivolous spending up front.@belair

I don't know that they could afford to get rid of him unless it was a hockey trade bringing back good assets that can play now.Crazy idea, with the Stars just an utter disaster if they continued to be so, I wonder if Holland could make a play for Klingberg. He's 27, with 2 more years left. I'm not suggesting he would come cheap, but it would certainly be someone to look at. And no, you don't trade Bouchard for him
Might as well ask for Ehlers or a similar calibre player if that's the asking priceAll the Leafs gave up was money.
Trading for Hall will require a 1st + top prospect just to begin the conversation on top of gifting him $10m for an extension.
**** that noise.

Do people think what should be a middling first-rounder and a prospect is a king's ransom or something?
I'm suspecting if they're planning to head in a different direction...though that's not exactly possible given the contract status on the players, they're likely in it for the long haulI don't know that they could afford to get rid of him unless it was a hockey trade bringing back good assets that can play now.
I just don't know what we could give up that they'd want. They don't really need RNH.
As it is they need help on defense too. Sekera playing 21 minutes isn't working to well for them. Has anyone looked at how they are playing their defense? 4 main guys and then guys playing 9-13 minutes on bottom pairing. Not good for a team that hoped to contend
Oilers are in cap hell. So yes, we could use good players on ELC. Look at Barzal he was picked in the mid 1stDo people think what should be a middling first-rounder and a prospect is a king's ransom or something?
I personally would not offer up our 1st round pick in this upcoming draft for Hall. Sooner or later we will need some cheap ELC forward help to get us over the top. I'd offer something like this: Jones/Lagesson, Marody/Benson/Puljujarvi, Gagner (cap)/Larsson, '20 2nd, Conditional '21 2nd (condition is that he re-signs with us). If Larsson is involved then one or both of the 2nds are no longer in play.
Yeah we don't need scoring depth.
