Price is not the right path to take. He has some issues as many do. But with the Oilers luck, any issues would be compounded at an exponential rate.

The Oilers arent really going to have any more capspace this off-season without Koskinen's salary than they do now with his salary.
If anything it's more advantageous now as they actually have a way to clear $4.5M.

They need to have the cap space either way. I still don’t see how Kassian or Barrie don’t move in the offseason, if not both

I mean, he barely played until he re-emerged as a bonafide starter. 21 nhl games after leaving Edmonton before he went to MIN and started dominating. The point is, we breed failure and players that leave us end up exceling. I think we can both agree on that.

Im noticing a trend with former Oiler goalies going to Minnesota and having All Star seasons. Dubnyk, Talbot, Walstedt…

Cam Talbot was amazing for us for 2 years, and 1 of those 2 years was right on par with Bobrovsky. The only reason he didnt get vezina love was his raw sv% wasnt high (due the Oilers being so bad defensively)

Talbot was also good when he left here, but he just looked bad due to the D. Its also another reason I dont buy into the idea of going all in on a big name goalie. The Oilers D will make any vezina level goalie look bad here

Barrie and Yamamoto for Soucy, Appleton, 2nd.

Koskinen, Turris, 1st, Lavoie for Price at 6.5.

2nd or D prospect for a 3C like M. McLeod or Nick Paul.

Price will probably cost another asset, but the cap is equal going out/in.
Not bad , but maybe we get another team to eat 25% of price and Mtl the same and we get him at 5 m a year …

At any cost.

If it's at 50% retained the remaining actual salary for Price is

3.875 million
4.25 million
3.75 million
3.75 million

I think if you reeeeeeally have to move the contract in the final year or two, you probably can do it without that much fuss.

I do think the Oilers would make a Conference Finals, maybe a Cup Finals, at least with Price for one of the years of his contract (probably in year 2 or 3). Holland would have to add an upgrade on Koekkoek who blows and probably shift Barrie for a more defensive D.

I listened this morning and I don't recall that ever being said.

Marek things we should use the 1st on a rental, and Friedman/Holland disagree. No one is saying Holland won't spend a 1st on a more permanent addition.

I'm listening to it right now. Friedman said he didn't think Holland would use the 1st for Chychrun. They mentioned it as being confusing because Tippett and Playfair had Chychrun in Arizona.

It doesn't matter what his actual salary is. At a $5.25M cap hit, he's locked in as the Oilers starter until McDrai's contracts expire. You won't have the option to bring in another starting goalie.

I'm not betting the rest of the McDrai era on an oft-injured, average, soon-to-be 35 year old goalie because he got hot for a playoff series.

He got hot for like 6 playoff rounds the last two playoffs? Or hot for every playoffs he's been in? Thats one heck of a coincidence.

The only way I'd trade for Price is if there's double retention and we send a contract like Kassian's back with zero retention.

That ain't happening lol.

I've been busy with work the last 24 hrs. Did turnip-head get signed or what?
