This is Hurricanes Hockey
Now this is what I want to see when our team outshoots the opposition!
The idea had crossed my mind to go to the trade board asking for Pastas value when the Bruins blow it up on account of sucking.Still confused why Pastrnak didn’t go UFA. Boston were arguably beyond their expiration date even before he signed. Surely he gets that same contract if not a better one that had better odds of competing during the totality of the deal he signed.
Canes are looking like a supercharged version of themselves. I don't know what it is, but the lineup somehow plays like an optimized, speedier version of the old Canes. Very impressive so far!
I never dyed my hair but back on the 80's I wore pastels had a white sport coat that I wore in 5th grade and had a perm.Maniscalco should dye his hair blonde since they keep talking about it. I did it for years as a teen and you only have one life to live and I think dying your hair is something everyone should do once in their life. Really fun and life affirming to switch things up like that.
The idea had crossed my mind to go to the trade board asking for Pastas value when the Bruins blow it up on account of sucking.
But then my soul was warmed just watching this game and I was able to handle the evil temptress that suggested such a classless idea.
Well everyone...
No this game was the Canes Chrismas present to us.Awwww you made me think you had started a thread
The strength of last year’s roster warped perception of what is needed to be an elite team. 2 years ago, they were a 113 point club. Compare the lineups and tell me what the meaningful difference is. The 2nd pairing isn’t as strong on paper, but that’s a function of rotating money to the 3rd pairing (they went really cheap 2 years ago).
There’s an arms race fallacy in hockey analysis. You see it at the deadline most visibly. It applies here as well. Teams aren’t starting with uniform stock piles.
I don't think the worries about this season was about the defense, because Tulsky, for all intents and purposes, replaced a premium-2nd pairing by promoting Orlov-Chatfield and then signing a premium-3rd pairing. The much scarier part was replacing Guentzel, Turbo, Noesen, and Fast with Roslovic, Robinson, and Carrier. Very few thought that any of our young guys were all that ready to fill shoes, but Blake surprised everyone and is now projected to be a long-term piece.
Guentzel was a piece to put them over the top. They were likely going to finish as a Top 5 team with Bunting in that same role. Some forget about that.
Roslovic is a solid player, just too generic to be notable leaguewide. He’s good enough to bounce around the Top 9, until the deadline at least. That’s what Teravainen was; he peaked years ago. Carrier and Fast are on a comparable tier. Blake offsetting Noesen has been a very pleasant surprise, but they should be okay once the wall hits.
It’s still a very talented team overall.
Anyone have video of the storm surge with mini-Jarvis I’ve been reading about? Unfortunately ESPN+ had this game blacked out here in Boston and I had to watch the crappy nesn feed which obviously didn’t show the surge
