Why does every silly Damien Cox column get its own thread? Seriously, does he have a say in team operations, is he a scout, an employee, a coach? No he's just a bald windbag who seems incredibly unhappy and bitter. WTF CARES WHAT DAMIEN COX THINKS? About all we can learn from Damien Cox is what anti depressants to avoid.

Other than the nonsensical 'trade Kessel' rhetoric; I really don't see what is wrong with this particular article. :dunno:

Gay has a lot of raw skill, and ability. Sometimes doesn't use it all.

Has a pretty terrible contract, league max, for 2 more years.

But he fills a definite need on the team, we haven't had a good swingman since Carter.

Ed Davis was up coming, imagine somewhere around Frattin. Finnally putting it all together it seemed to be a solid player.

Calderon was like a Tomas Kaberle who never stopped playing well.

EDIT:

Off the top of my head

Matt Frattin (of Today, except with a higher potential)
Tomas Kaberle (if we still had him and his play never dropped)
2nd
for
Paul Stastny

Right idea, but Stastny isn't the example I would use. Rudy Gay is a top 10, arguably top 5 all-star SF. Stastny isn't even a top 20 C.

It would be like the Leafs just offered that and got back Phil Kessel... a young established top 5-10 player at his position, although not necessarily a franchise cornerstone.
