Run It Back
Why wouldn't ya?
Can he learn from history?!?! He is history, as in a fossilized relic whose capacity for learning has long since passed. The bigger question......if Lou remains....can he finally learn from history?

Once you wave the white flag on a season, you promote your prospects to the big club and give them a long look to see what you have, except here in Lou Land. Here Lou trades the team's best goal scorer and tells the rest of the team "I hobbled you but go grind out a playoff spot because that's our DNA."All in all, I'm still stuck here thinking about how Lou could've pretty much gone the Sweeney route at the deadline, taken a look at some of the boys on the farm down the stretch, given the fans something to watch and ponder about moving forward, and had this team winding up to the tune of a top 5 pick this summer.
Alone moving Nelson in a Barzelless season was death knell enough with respect to any playoff ambitions. That was already waving the white flag.
First, the time to give the young guys a look was the game after the trade deadline and for the rest of this season. Now, while it may seem futile, it's still a chance for prospects to get actual NHL experience and something they can carry with them through the summer and into training camp in September. That part is never a waste of time.Putting any of the young guys in at this point to "see what they can do" is worthless...just play out the last three and call it a season...end our misery. It truly does not matter one way or the other....all is going to hinge on what happens over the course of the off season. There too, there is little to no matter who is our GM or coach at this point. Something to look forward to?
Just understand that if Lou does fire any coaches, that means he's staying. So, technically we should actually hope for no firings by Lou. Of course, that raises the question of "when". At some point, if we hear nothing about anyone being let go, then maybe your post comes to fruition and everyone comes back. I'm thinking/hoping that's unlikely though. The grim reality is that this coaching staff is "safe" after the 17th. They won't be fired or questioned beyond the usual closer questions. Horrible if Lou does that.
McLean is the perfect nepotism hire and I swear Lou is probably fine thinking he's there. The guy sucks. I really just do not understand why Lou believes that his entire staff is free of criticism and his team cannot be deemed "mediocre" at all.Just understand that if Lou does fire any coaches, that means he's staying. Watch - Lou fires Roy and promotes McLean to HC.![]()
Lou to the media on clean-out day: "I have to be better." Again.Should be clear that after Lambert and Roy, and the ensuing results, the current GM should not be permitted to dismiss and then hire another coach.
No serious owner would give his GM that much leeway.
