Well England have played like ass and still win out due to a poor group and a lucky draw on the easier side of the bracket...you can only beat what's in front of you and they've managed to squeak through each test....but they arem't good enough to beat a strong team.

Then and there
England's main problem was once again that they had no-one in midfield to control the game. They'll always struggle in build-up as long as that's the case. Their attackers are all the type of guys who expect service and don't wanna do build-up play. The defenders look like they'd rather just hoof it up field. England couldn't beat a mediocre Slovak press for like 75 minutes because of that. It's actually astonishing that in spite of now 25 years of foreign managers in England and globalized media etc. England still can't produce players that are happy to act as midfield pivots.

They used to produce some (like Glenn Hoddle) but they were often ignored/not chosen (like Hoddle played marginal role at Euro 88, but did well when he got on the pitch).

I think it's a youth training issue, often coaches think that the clubs will buy a better Brazilian for that role at senior level anyway, so why waste some British kids talent there.

Sweet Caroline is aids
I went to a university that had D3 sports for everything except hockey was D1, so it was a big deal. Women’s game were the same days as men’s games just earlier in the day. The pep bad would always show up for the women’s games despite the fact that there would only be like 200 other people in the entire arena that sat ~3k at capacity (which it was for men’s games).

Anyway, one women’s game the opposing goalie was named Caroline. The pep band literally sang that song on repeat for the entire game, even going so far as to change sides of the rink so they were right behind her the entire time.

Should be Gomez at LB (I'm not a Liverpool fan I just thought he looked competent there at times this season unlike Trippier).

Also think that Mainoo is a neat footballer but if they want a destroyer in the midfield to actually sit back a bit and defend then it's Wharton not Mainoo or Gallagher who's more of an energetic box to box.
