  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

hows the skating?

Will need more agility and better posture at the next level to maintain balance in one on one puck battles but shouldn't be an issue.

Think the Flyers have another player with offensive instincts and skill; the organization and coaching should make him more aware in the tactical areas of the game.

Nice to hear. I'm sure HF will hate him.

Brad Schlossman (North Dakota & NCAA Hockey reporter GOAT) thinks Bump is ready for the NHL after this season. Bump had a great series for Western Michigan at The Ralph this past weekend. Certainly worth keeping an eye on to see if Briere offers him the ELC once Western is done this year.

I don't think there's much of a question. They place this guy up there with Hunter McDonald.

The Flyers seem to have a type after the top 50.

It's not size so much anymore, it's IQ, work ethic and offensive skills, combined with questionable skating.
Balance that with smurfs, Barkey, Ciernak, Pautov.

Two different gambles, with smurfs, can they fill out enough to hold their own without losing quickness and agility - Brink is a good example, Barkey could be top six if he becomes strong enough to play in dirty areas. He is dominating the OHL since he recovered from mono, 13g 1-11 12 to start the season, 23g 15-30 45 since. Once glance at Gendron playing and it's obvious that there is something as "too small."

With bigger guys, can we fix their skating so they can take advantage of their skill package. Worked with Cates, didn't work with Strome. Berglund, Gill, Bump, Knuble, Powell all fall into the "we can fix this" category. Bump and Knuble are playing at a high level in college, whether they translate it to the pro game probably depends on how much they can improve their skating.

I think Tuomaala is the last time they gamble on speed/skill over IQ, he has the raw skill to play in the NHL but just can't process fast enough and makes too many mistakes.

If a player is full sized, with a high IQ and good offensive skills and above average skating, he's rarely going to fall out of the top 50.

Hmmmm. Saw the entire game. I’ve seen him very few times other than highlights, so have little baseline and had some preconceived notions. I thought his vision was better than expected. Had a few really nice passes where, even though another more selfish play was there to take, he made the pass, which was the more dangerous play. He’s not afraid to go 1 v 1 and uses his size well when doing so, but his post move burst, especially if slowed up on the original move needs improvement. I thought he skating overall was solid enough. He took a beating this game. Took at least 5 big hits. Overall, a good, not great game. Made some plays throughout and was noticeable. Wants the puck and collected a few tough passes that made be think his hands are pretty good. Those are my quick thoughts.

Jeff Marek today on The Sheet said that there are people within the Flyers who think Bump is not only ahead of Luchanko, but is the ‘top of the heap’

The kid is a winner. Just watch who scores big time in a big time game, twice.

Wow right at the start of 2nd OT. Well done. I love the commentator after his first goal. "We knew Alex Bump would be heard from before this game was over. Bump doing Bump things." Good for the kid. Thank heavens we didn't take Buium... LOL!
