The real problem, for Allison and Brink, will be the veterans Fletcher signs for the 4th line.

Ok the real problem for Allison is that he's vaporware. But in theory it's a problem.

MacEwen already has 4RW locked down. Has not been a healthy scratch one time since being claimed.

So unless Konecny is traded, they have Tippett, Allison, and Brink all vying for 3RW.

It's not much less crowded on the LW either (Farbee, Lindblom, JVR (Gaudreau?), Cates, Ratcliffe who they like)

He need more weight and more shooting. Guy is a primadonna. Make it happen Lappy!
It wasn't that he was getting bodied just more like he wasn't getting the space he was used to. As his teams best player I'm sure he is used to being the focus of attention. He just might need to adjust to the higher level of competition. It's not the end of the world if he doesn't come in and light it up or play like TK. You could see his passing skills and I expect he'll be better with NHL guys to work with. Though whether he'll get that I'm not sure.

I think everyone has forgotten: Both Wisdom and Foerster are RWers too. Though it seems every shot by Tyson is from the left side....

I don't see the big deal if a couple of right hand shot wingers play the left side.

It won't be anywhere near as difficult as it is for York playing the right side on D.

Have there been any hockey players that are truly ambidextrous ?

I am predominantly right handed but cannot shave or brush my teeth with my right hand at all........I can write 75% as good lefthanded as righthanded. I could hit both sides in Little League but by Babe Ruth League strictly rightie.......left handed could not hit the nasty slider to save my life.....well.... with a slider I could not hit right handed either....between the slider and girls.....ended my baseball career.....

Getting out to Home Depot for some plumbing supplies......listening to 1965 garage bands.
Here is an angry singing "hate my ex-girlfriend song" with death metal angst......Why? by the Dirty Wurds

Thanks....and interesting.......

He would switch hands mid shift. Could give goalies and dmen fits, and in his own end there was no such thing as being caught on his backhand.

I forget who told this story, but once Gordie showed up to practice and grabbed a left handed stick to work with. Later, he grabbed a right handed stick and the guy wisecracked him, telling him he had the wrong stick. Gordie told him it doesn't matter, and continued practice as normal

Where is he playing in the NHL?

They have Konecny - Atkinson - Tippett - Allison on the RW for next season. Not to mention lineup lock MacEwen is probably chiseled in at 4RW after his 2 year extension.
Brink plays LW for Denver, as he did at the WJC. But that puts him in competition with Farabee, Lindblom, JVR, Laughton, Cates, et al.

Agree with this. Brink played a good game. Very conscientious in his own end, made good passes in NZ. As you say, he was having trouble getting separation and room to make plays. Fast backchecking pushed him into the D standing up at the blueline which forced him to dump it in a lot. The pass he made for the OTGWG was a world class snap pass.

NYT says nobody is sure why, but I thought the general consensus is that due to baseball Americans do hockey the way they do.

A couple of the more serious/skilled hockeyers I've known actually learned to play Canadian style for more precise control. And another guy who was a big dman stayed American style because he was able to shoot a lot harder that way and wasn't worried about precision.

Might go back to the insistence in Catholic schools that left handers be swapped to right handed.

I wasn't Catholic schooled but I was born lefty and forced by my grandfather that I would not be lefty.

I can do some things lefty but am mostly right handed.

This is good. I like this.

JVR won't be here next season but Gaudreau might replace him.

Whether or not Brink has a legit shot at making the team will all come down to who Chuckles & Gang hire as the next coach. If it's a guy like Jim Montgomery by some miracle, Brink has a shot. If it's Torts or Tocchet, which is more likely and very gross, then forget about it.

I'm a righty in Canada but I know growing up a lot of my right handed friends played left in hockey. Apparently the coaches liked having their dominant hand on the stick at all times. And then they would play golf right handed. I could never wrap my head around it.

Yeah I thought this was common knowledge that most Canadians are taught to use their dominant hand at the top of their stick at a young age?
