The larger sample size, always go with the larger sample size. The playoffs were invented to give fans something to hope for. The regular season could be pretty boring if a team like Boston runs away with it and are the best team. Playoffs are, where a team records more points than any team in history, loses to a team that finished in 18th place, over 20 less victories in an 82 game schedule. Hockey has streaks, we have had teams collect points in 15 straight games during the regular season yet fail to make the playoffs. If those 20 games happened during the playoffs they probably win the Cup.OK so what do you base your judgement on? Is there some formula, or is it just a feeling? How do you decide who the best team is? Does it change from week to week, month to month or does it stay consistent all season? Do you look at the playoffs at all, or just the regular season - can you tell us now who the best team is or do we need to see more playoff action before you decide?
So the Presidents trophy winner is the best team? The larger sample size, always go with the larger sample size. The playoffs were invented to give fans something to hope for. Playoffs are exciting but regular season is more accurate. And why Presidents trophy winners do not win more Cups just proves the point what a crapshoot playoffs are.
Let's hope they play Fred a lot....shakier the better...They are missing Svechnikov, Pacioretty, and Teravainen.
Plus the goaltending is shaky.
I would add that the Leafs are now playing only against the other team instead of the other team and their own team of demons. That should lift a giant weight off of their shoulders in the next round. If this was any other year I would be worried about a giant let down...but I think the way they have bounced back after a loss this year nullifies that.No Leaf team would underestimate the team that knocked out Boston. Florida is playing hard hockey, playoff hockey, and being backboned by a goalie that is looking dialed in. We are going to be in tough.
That said, having finally won a series, and imho having the better talent, we can beat the Panthers if we play without fear. My 4 key players, no, 5 key players who will be difference makers for TO:
*Samsonov, play like he has and we’re looking good.
*Schenn, I didn’t see this much good coming from Luke, he’s steadied the right side.
*Liljegren, can his skating and passing be strong enough to help break the puck out, and offer Gio the passing option Gio didn’t have with Holl? A confident TL would be a huge boost to our 3rd pair.
*Knies, hugely impressed by this young man, mistakes and all. By no means a line driver, his game compliments any of our top 3 Cs. Keefe has used him well, I’m curious where he will fit against Florida.
*Rielly, more Mo, please.
If the rest play as they have, or better, I’m confident this team can...nope, not going there. GLG!
Yes super silly but it won't affect much .. there are over a million Canadians resident in Florida and from folks i spoke with in Tampa da large majority have family connections in da state like me .. bottom line tickets purchased by my mom and i just reimburse her .. it is more annoying than anythingSilly, but other teams have done this in recent years. Back in 2002 when the Leafs were playing Carolina for the conference finals I was able to get tickets on Ticketmaster online, but anyone who went to Carolina to get tickets at the box office were being denied if they had Ontario ID. FYI - it was still 50% Leafs fans in the building.
I think that ticketmaster won't be allowed to do that because it's descrimination.Yes super silly but it won't affect much .. there are over a million Canadians resident in Florida and from folks i spoke with in Tampa da large majority have family connections in da state like me .. bottom line tickets purchased by my mom and i just reimburse her .. it is more annoying than anything

One series at a time. By the time the 2nd round is over, maybe TT and Svechnikov will be activated. They are missing Svechnikov, Pacioretty, and Teravainen.

That explains a lot. Always a great decision to give anonymous biased people a bunch of power lol.

How much was your flight? Seemed a bit too $ for me to warrant it (looked Friday to Tuesday flights) given that I'm going to the games here. Will save my $ for a hopeful away game in Round 3 if we are fortunate enough.I was contemplating going down for game 3. The attempted ticket restrictions just gave me the inspiration I needed.
See you at Sunrise. GLG
When I did the Carolina trip in '02 it was hot, sunny, and a massive tailgate party, complete with people bringing road hockey nets on their vans to play road hockey in the parking lot. Witnessed the largest beer can maple leaf in history, from what I can remember (which is hazy at times).I was contemplating going down for game 3. The attempted ticket restrictions just gave me the inspiration I needed.

Wasn't cheap. Taking Flair (lol). I can't stay for game 4 unfortunately. So I'll be giving those tickets to family and heading home MondayHow much was your flight?
