Any chances they go ahead and start Round 2 in the east before round 1 is over in the West or will they have all 4 teams wait until May 6 ?

Why would teams have to wait until May 6? The latest possible Round 1 Western Conference round one game is Sunday May 4 and that game only happens if St. Louis beats Winnipeg on Friday night.

I don't want to miss the game 7 (s)

Dallas vs. Colorado just had its start time set at 8:00 p.m. eastern. Winnipeg vs. St. Louis still says TBD, since it's not guaranteed to happen, but it's probably safe to assume that it'll be an evening game. I could see them starting Washington vs. Carolina on Saturday or Sunday with an afternoon game 1.

I think if they were going with Saturday we'd have already heard about it. Sunday could happen if they announce it today. Otherwise probably Monday night.

I want to say this happened last year? Or some point in recent history.

Pretty much every year there's a series that starts in the next round before all the earlier round series' are finished, or close enough to it to have a discussion.

This isn't new by any means. It happens.

That's not true at all. Aside from last year, and one of the Covid years, the second round has always waited for the first round to finish:

2024: Eastern Conference round two started the same day as the last game of the Western Conference round one.

2023: Round one for both conferences was finished by May 1. First games of round two were on May 2.

2022: Round one for both conferences was finished by May 15. First games of round two were on May 17.

2021: One first round series ended May 31, while the first second round series started May 29. Note this was a Covid-influenced year.

2020: Round one for both conferences was finished by August 21. First games of round two were on August 22 (this doesn't count the play-in round, but that didn't have any overlap with the first round).

2019: Round one for both conferences was finished by April 24. First games of round two were on April 25.

2018: Round one for both conferences was finished by April 25. First games of round two were on April 26.

I'm stopping here as a clear trend is emerging.

Not sure why the Oliers/Knights don’t have a game on the docket yet…
i suspect it depends on winnipeg. with no pacific timezone games, they can't have traditional double headers and canadian broadcasters might prefer oilers, jets & leafs on separate days during the week. they can double up on the weekend for games 3 & 4.
