Don't agree, sort of. I just think he does not know how to elevate his game. Everyone around him has upped the compete level for every inch of ice. He either does not, does not know how or simply can't.

I believe he cares, maybe so much that he paralyzes himself mentally.

Number one, he need to simplify his plays, make the plays that are there and build off that positivity. The cutesy shit has to go. The fact he clearly hasn't learned that lesson, tells me he never will.

Sooo, you agree he is who he is. If that's the case, don't ask for Matthews money in a few years. You want your highest paid players to be the guys who will elevate their game in the playoffs.

Cause he's not playing an honest game. You can just tell with the stops and starts vs wide turning arcs, is he leveraging his body when he reaches in with a stick. He's doing none of those things, letting guys win the foot races and water skiing behind them, I know he's not dialed in. No big hits to create momentum and chaos. Long range, no hope slap shot attempts. He's just going through the motions.
