The leafs will split the two games at home and on the road. The "core 4" will have impeccable stats. The leafs will lose game 5 and 6 and it won't be close. The core four will be entirely off the stats sheet.

That is my prediction, based on real world experience, precedent, and historical reality.
The Leafs will win games 1 and 2 (one of which will be in overtime), and then win game 3 in overtime in a game that Stolarz will steal and every non-Toronto fan will complain about. Florida will win game 4. The Leafs will win game 5 in overtime.

But based on that same precedence, Nylander might still score. Leafs will likely still lose but atleast Willy will have a goal and create some good offense.

Well that is a 6'6" 250lb angry russian that caught 6'1" 193lb Bennett off guard
Well he better watch out for the 6'3 227 lb angry American because he isn't too happy with 6'1 193 lb Bennett. The last time the American went looking for payback it didn't turn out too well for his opponent.

Nothing in my post suggests standing around as our star players are injured
You said stay above the retaliation nonsense. If one of those dirty scumbags take cheap shots against our stars there had better be retaliation, lots of it.

Really wish Tre upgraded the #7/#8 D slots because they'll probably need them at some point.
I mean if you added somebody to the right side to bump Benoit down to 7 and have Myers as the 8th guy you would definitely have an elite group.

The other elite teams have a weak spot or two on the third pair though. Heck the Stars have Ceci on their top pair with Heiskanen out.

Panthers have Balinskis playing with Ekblad out who isn't any better than Myers.

First up I felt a bit of irritation because the Leafs are in action first in the second round. Why don’t we get the extra day rest like all other teams? Now I am wondering wether it might be an advantage against a Florida team that seems to have some half injured star players.

Anyway. It is Liberation Day in my country today. The Netherlands were mostly liberated by Canadian troops, which has made sure Canada has a special place in Dutch hearts. So thank you Canada and GLG.

Gotcha, I understand your confusion.

I said some series you can and should stay above the nonsense. I said "last series" (Ottawa) where it was clean, there was no need to escalate. Id say the MTL Series was the same. You don't want to retaliate because it's not necessary and that's their hope.

Others are more physical and you want to change the narrative. I specifically called out this series as that because it will be grittier and dirtier. So you want a response and to control the narrative rather than just receive it

Nah. It could go 7. I just tuned in. It said 3 to 1.

Massive to get the series lead.

They need to double down on the defensive effort in Game 2.

Hopefully Woll gets back to himself and has a clean game. Feels like the Hildabeast will be the backup in that one.

Stolarz probably faking it all to get Bennett suspended /s

Leafs had an explosion offensively in game#1 against the Sens as well, hopefully game#2 its followed up by another 3+.

Losing this series would mean 4 losses in their next 6 games.

The Leafs have only 3 losses in their last 17 games, going back into the regular season. 17 games!

Not too bad when you put it that way, huh? I believe in this team. Go Leafs Go!

Have they even gone 2-4 in a 6 game stretch this season?

Unfortunately this sort of stat means nothing. Regular season isn't playoffs, and Florida != average regular season opponent.

The year we dominated the Canadian division we played consistent throughout, took over 1st place early and stayed there IIRC. Then up 3-1 against MTL and you could come up with all kinds of similar stats that indicated that the odds of us losing were near zero, then the wheels fell off.

Biggest game of the year tonight, should be a good one and a win would be huge, easily the biggest win of the year, probably the biggest win in over 20 years come to think of it. GLG!!

I agree that the regular season isn't playoffs. And the Panthers certainly aren't an average regular season opponent.

But my stat did include the Ottawa series. Track record matters. There's a reason you don't want to "back into" the playoffs. And getting hot at the right time is a measurable thing.

The regular season isn't a perfect indication of playoff success. But it is a indicative of a team's quality. And it's all we have to go on. One of the biggest requirements to go on a deep playoff run is consistency. And the Leafs have been uncharacteristically consistent to close out the season and for the start the postseason. It's good news.

When I read "track record matters", the first thing that pops into my mind is this core's pathetic history in the playoffs. But I'll just shake that off, and pretend that it doesn't exist because now's not the time to be negative, and what this team has done in the last couple of months is certainly more relevant than what they did in the distant past.

You're right, this team played very well down the stretch. And while I thought their level of play dipped against Ottawa, it was still good enough to get the job done and then they cranked it up a notch against Florida. Those first two periods against Florida were amazing and it certainly looks like these guys came ready to do battle. The third period we slipped a bit but who cares, we got the win and that's what counts!

Hoping for more good news tonight, win tonight and it's probably the biggest win for this franchise in more than two decades. GLG!!

I finally checked the box score from the last game and I see that after leading the forwards in ice time last game against Ottawa, Nylander played 5 and a half minutes less than Marner in game 1.

Is that a misprint or something, WTF Berube!!? Get your your head out of your ass and let stud boy loose, what are you waiting for?

Wow. Cap tip to management for getting us not one but two upgrades on our goaltending in years past.

Woll is a beauty. (Yes I know he’s the the “incumbent”)

No OT as of yet, and I doubt Stolarz is even playing in game 3. You're waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off buddy. :)
